I've had a decent vinyl of this for years, but grabbed the original Columbia CD for a few bucks and ripped it with a de-emphasis filter and it sounds so much better than the "decent" vinyl.
The whole album is really well recorded and that old CD has so much dynamic range. Pre-compression years.

Almost a third of the way through this album...not sure if I agree that it is the #2 Prog Rock album of all time, as purported by whatever social media feed "list" I was reading a few weeks ago, but it is something that is definitely worth a listen.


Edit: after 9/10 of the album, maybe that list is closer than expected? It's definitely climbing my list, but still not #2...nope.

Finally snagged the SACD for this album, which has been a reference piece for me since my early vinyl days (I found a really clean old pressing at a thrift store back around 2005).
This SACD was worth the spend. The old vinyl isn't far behind except in the quieter scenes.
