I’d put that look in my system in a second.

Ah, didn't know that. No wonder I like them.....something different. I basically have the same thing on my Jolida CDP, after I changed out the silver face plate to the black. I kept all of the silver buttons. It just looked better to me that way.

It is my understanding that these blackface Pioneer versions were only available to U.S. military personnel serving in Europe. The SX-5570 shown here is the equivalent of the domestic SX-950 (85 watts per channel into 8Ω stereo). Its big brothers are the SX-5580 equivalent to the SX-1050 (120 watts per channel) and the SX-5590 equivalent to the SX-1250 (165 watts per channel). I want one of each.

    I missed that. :#
That said, I did read -- on the internet! -- that Jeep did indeed, at least transiently, have ads that ran on their infotianment systems. I think they may have succumbed to backlash from aggravated customers (and bloggers with no particular vested interest other than generating pageviews). :p

Always liked those black faced receivers.

First receiver purchase after landing in Germany was a sansui g-9000, loved that gold look.
It powered my first real set of speakers, Bose 901 series III.

They were available to anyone in Europe and Japan including those in the US military. Many who brought them back home.

I recall there was a business selling black faceplates for vintage Marantz receivers. Not sure if they are still doing so. They looked very nice.
