I'm just surprised. We get teased for snow all the time you here. Yet no snow. -
so... I rotated the tires on my Subaru this morning.
Since I am lazy*, rather than look it up in the car manual, I googled the lug nut torque spec for the car.
Google's AI was, of course, happy to give me a quick answer:
Umm, yeah, no.
Nice try, Google AI!**
I looked it up in the manual.
89 ft-lb.

I played with this a bit. Don't know exactly what you Googled, but,
"crosstrek lug nut torque"
The torque for a Subaru Crosstrek's lug nuts is 89 ft/lbs. If you don't have a torque wrench, you can use the lug wrench that came with the car, as it's designed to prevent over-torquing. After installing new tires, you should re-tighten the lug nuts after 50–100 miles for aluminum rims.
Over- or under-tightening lug nuts can be dangerous and damaging.

On the puddle jumper I torque every 25 - 50 - 100 - 500 miles.when rotating wheels & tires I torque the SpiderTrax 1 inch spacers every time I rotate @ 5000 miles. This also has 1 inch Bilstein lift on front & stock on rear w/Bilstein shocks all around it. I torque every single thing as I service it myself. No one drives this but me. If it fails it's on me. I carry torque wrench in truck. The tool box weighs more then the truck

Alignment every year, lifetime program at Firestone
I average about 80k to 90k miles out of Michelin defenders
Drive 50k a year, never had any issues. For a normal driver anything more than every 5k miles seems excessive- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -

Who is tightening lug nug nuts every 100 miles?
Not every 100 miles. Just once. After mounting a tire on a car (at least when the tires are on alloy wheels), one is supposed to check torque after about 50 miles and re-torque to spec. The place we get our tires (which is very good) insists on it... but, on the bright side, they'll essentially drop everything & check "in real time" so to speak when one brings a car back for re-torquing.
It's not a bad idea to check torque now and again, though.
The tire place also rotate tires they sold for free and will also put on snow tires they sold for free -- and that's the problem. I did my own rotation this time because, despite my best intentions to take the car in and get 'em done while Mrs. H was in Africa... I didn't 
Now they're hella busy with snow tire installations, and so I decided to do 'em myself. I will probably throw Mrs. H's snows on, too, for the same reason.
My tires are the Michelin Crossclimate 2 which are really nice all weather, all year (!?!) tires -- but they need to be rotated every 3k miles, or one won't get the tread life of which they're capable. I take Michelin & the tire place at their words.
