Buchanan, Georgia is the town in Haralson County .
In just two weeks, the Georgia Fried Pie Festival takes place in Haralson County as one of the more delicious events of the year in the state if you enjoy desserts! Downtown Buchanan will be filled with the smell of hot fried pies, with favorites such as apple, peach, blackberry, cherry, chocolate, coconut cream, and more being sold throughout the day. The 2026 celebration marks the festival’s 10th year and takes place Saturday, September 19, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Beyond the pies, you can browse hundreds of booths offering food, handmade items, crafts, and other finds while music and entertainment keep the courthouse square lively.
The day also brings a car and bike show, antique tractors, rides, children’s activities, contests, and plenty of small-town fun. The festival is centered around Buchanan’s historic courthouse area, where the old Haralson County Courthouse has stood since 1892. It’s an easy fall day trip built around food, shopping, music, and plenty of pie.

It reminded me that I ate quite a few fried pies in my youth made by my dear Mother. My favorite was Chocolate ones cooked in a cast iron skillet.
