Hey just looking for a good receiver to replace my Denon AV1912. Its been getting quieter over time and the dobly digital doesn't sound right. I have Tsi400 fronts, CS20 center. Tsi100 surrounds and a PSW505 sub. Thanks for the input.

You are looking for an AVR. A receiver is 2 channel. It would help to state a budget.Political Correctness'.........defined

The RX-50 from Onkyo is one hell of a AVR. Not to mention it's amp section can support better speakers than you currently own so you will have room to grow. They have a think a used one for $799 but for a brand new one for $999 is a steal. Retail was $1599Dan
My personal quest is to save to world of bad audio, one thread at a time. -
Does AC4L ship to Canada? If so, the refurb RZ50 is probably one of the better deals, but sadly, it comes out to something like $1100 CAD.For rig details, see my profile. Nothing here anymore...

I was actually considering that one for if my Onkyo HT-RC360 ever stops working.
But I wonder what makes more sense, refurb or new? At least with refurb you know it’s been gone through, right? $200 difference. Shrug. Thoughts? -

The only 'factory refurb' that has ever given me issues was buying a cheap Sony SACD changer from Sony. Their Laredo TX factory/service center apparently has some QC issues. I had two bad ones, and gave up for a refund after that. Other than that, I've bought many other refurbs over the years and they have all been perfect and some are still with me. One of my best was my Onkyo SR805 refurb. Eventually, it started to have HDMI issue like all the AVRs from that era but it was a beast otherwise.
If the price difference is small, but the warranty difference is huge (like 90 day vs 3 years), I might spend extra for the "New" one, but you can also buy an aftermarket warranty for as little as $40.For rig details, see my profile. Nothing here anymore... -
Never...ever send anything to Sony's Laredo, TX factory/service center. NEVER!Political Correctness'.........defined
