Polk Magnifi Max subwoofer and surround speakers not syncing

I have tried the following:
-updating firmware through google home app
-resetting with the reset button on the back of the soundbar
-holding the sync button on both the soundbar and subwoofer at the same time
Nothing has gotten my subwoofer to connect. This is my second system and it had worked fine for a while and then did not sync again. I really enjoyed this system and spent good money between both systems I have purchased, so it is very disappointing for it not to be fully functional now.
