Trek Deck Post lighting

Hello everyone,
We recently had our deck rebuilt. This time I went with Trek's instead of Cedar like the last time. The Cedar was nice, high maintenance but it lasted about 16 years. Then it started to fall apart.

So we called around, had some estimates and picked a really nice, well spoken guy local who does excellent work.

Now It's all done, I'm considering those Post lights, the solar ones. I've seen a few but curious if any of you have experience with them or other options for lighting.

Thanks, here's a few pics

I've never personally used them. I see them alot doing rehabs.

My take away is they work when they work and they don't when they don't.

Some may work a long time and some may not

My wife had a set at her townhouse before we were married. They looked "OK".
They were susceptible to the hazing of the plastic over the PVA & the toothpaste trick really didn't help after a couple of years.

Recommend getting a look in person at some to compare. They'll use LED bulbs which can have good light output for a few hours overnight but some will have a nasty glare to them if they are less expensive. To get enough power built up they'll need to be in sunlight and not shade or covered in snow during the day and they may not turn on at night if there's another bright light around. Maybe look for some with motion sensors?

The solar lamps have their uses but I preferred wired lamps with standard dusk to dawn LED bulbs. Just more reliable. The bulbs in my outdoor house lights are nothing special but they've been in place for four years now without issues.

    Great looking deck!

So I was at Lowes and for the hell of it, I picked up some Solar Caps. They actually work pretty damn good. I only spend a little over $100 for all of them. I need 1 more, I purchased all they had in stock.
