Finally the Stax x9000 have arrived. This will have to keep me company until an HE1 drops on my lap (hopefully someday).

Looks gorgeous and typical Japanese artistry handmade packaging. Reminds of the airtight cartridge I received.

Still waiting on my amp….

I remember when I first heard Stax headphones (back when dinosaurs roamed the earth) and they were fantastic. Nothing has sounded as good as they did.

The headset and the wooden box look lovely, but all that plastic wrapping around the headphones themselves on the inside? No thank you! My Apple AirPods Max cost $600 and I thought the packaging looked much better, in typical Apple fashion. It’s always a joy to unwrap their stuff IMO.

That said, the AirPods Max are good for what they are, and well designed, but they could never be described as great. I actually sent them back, and kept the Beats Studio Pro instead. Also not audiophile grade (so not at all what you are looking for, obviously), but they were $200 shipped, including taxes, from BestBuy, and probably sound 90% as good as the AirPods Max.
    Alea jacta est!

Also slight ding to the box

I’m asking to see if they can send me a new box

I don't think he has a suitable amp on hand yet, as these require a special type of amplifier.
