So I’m a little confused. So F1, is this a good amp for my 3.1TL?. Any recommendations? Thank you

I'd keep looking. I'd pass on the Rotel too, uses a massive amount of negative feedback. No experience with the others you listed.

  • Hi. I bought a Crown XLS 2502 to power the Polks. Capacitors on order. The speakers are in my garage sitting on concrete. Should I put something under the speaker feet like carpet or anything else? Thank you

I'm always baffled as to why folks think a pro amp is suitable for home audio.

I definitely would put carpet or something under them.

High wattage but way lower amperage usually. Usually a much higher noise floor as well IMHO

I would carpet the entire garage floor.

More current the better. I love this forum. Ordered the RDO198 tweeters today. I got 20% off the price by mentioning I was a Polk forum member.

    My, how quickly things change.

  • I do love the constructive suggestions. I do love reading about other people’s experiences with their equipment. I do not like responses of a critical nature. Seems like a waste of someone’s time unless the have nothing better to do. Thank you

These speakers deserve far better than to be stuck in a garage. If you are only going to abuse them with a crappy, damp environment and run them on garbage power, why bother at all with upgrading them? Better for the speakers to have a new home and you get some D9 Cerwin Vega’s…

  • Wow. My simple question struck a nerve. I’m sensing some anger here. Maybe that’s your garage. Mine 3 car spaces, full gym setup, climate controlled.

At one point my barn system started out as a pair of SDA 2.3's a Carver 1.5t amp C-2 preamp and a cheap Bluetooth receiver. It ROCKED! It was a hit with my barn party goers! Not so much with my neighbors.

  • A positive comment. How refreshing. My friend had an extra carver amp that he wanted to give us. I said no to giving and paid him $100 bucks. I also have the c2. I can’t wait to do the capacitors.
  • Oops typed carver. Meant Crown

What about replacing the inductors? Is it suggested to use air-core, or iron-core inductors in the crossovers?
Air-core inductors don't saturate. Iron core inductors need to be big enough to handle all the potential power without saturating.

My 1Bs have iron-core inductors from ERSE for the "big" SDA inductors.
