OK, so it seems as if my last post got mixed reactions from folks on this site. Some think I should get a seperate CD player and some think not. I just got through reading a review of my DVD/SACD player in Sound and Vision and they had nothing but good things to say about it.
For those who think I should invest in another CD/SACD player, what are your specific reasons? Is it a matter of improved sound quality or sonic detail or are there other reasons? Can I get a player that plays both CD's and SACD's for a reasonable ($500 or less) price?? I've already invested $6000 on my music system and I'm leaning toward completing my HT setup before I go and buy another CD player?
As far as SACD's themselves are concerned, I only own two (Pink Floyd DSOTM and Peter Gabriel's SO). I don't really notice imporved sonics on the floyd album (although I'm sure I would if I had 5.1 surround), but the Gabriel album is much more striking musically than the CD version I have.

It's a matter of opnion on what to do.
Owning the best you can afford in my opnion is key. It's so hard to put a good system together. If your happy with the performance of what you own now, then don't replace it.Buy better wires and further along what you feel is the weakest link in your system.
Example of my system,
In my system I feel my B&K avr307 is the weakest link.I feel the need to upgrade it.So my audio perfection journey takes me to seperates and the B&k is the last receiver I will own.
Also my desires and needs have changed since I owned it.When I upgraded from Denon avr3801 to Rotel 2 channel seperates to the B&Kavr307,it was a great leap in audio reproduction and awesome movie experience.Today I long for even better sound.I upgraded all my wires from Monster to Transparent to Kimber.
Good luck with your upgrading

pmckeealaska,
I have a Denon 2200 DVD/SACD/CD player that costs about $500 (maybe a little more). I can compare it today in two channel performance against what I consider my reference cd player which is a tweaked Jolida tube output cdp. I also have a Rotel cd player I can compare the Denon to. I will post my findings if I get around to it. Philips also makes a nice SACD/cd player at your price. The Pioneer Elites have also come down in price as well as the newer models have been introduced.
Can you get any demos going on or are restricted with places for gear up there?
