I feel like the star of that setup is the Panasonic 8-track player/recorder.

Ivan, do you know if the original (non-TL) 2.3s were opposite (4 drivers outside, two drivers inside) than the 2.3TLs? I had a guy tell me mine were in the wrong position. He had worked in an audio store back in the 80s and was certain mine were wrong. :p

I agree your 2.3TL's are reversed. You asked for opinions, I guess; "Y'all think" so...

I've had countless CD players, many were Pioneer, a few Pioneer Elite ones and
by far the worst sounding one is the one you have in the rack, a PD-M423. The
poor sound of these is very obvious when compared with about any other CD
player of similar vintage. Just swap it out with pretty much anything and it will be an
    improvement.

All else looks good, I have 2.3 non-TL's and 1.2TL's. Enjoy the music!

EDIT: Your available space may be limited, but the 2.3TL speakers should be farther apart and should not be back the 3-4 inches from the front of the rack. They should be on the same plane or just protrude a half inch in front of the rack. There are SDA side wall distance recommendations also, but we can't see the right wall location in the photo.

Welcome to the forum! I just saw your post above that you had just moved them into a new room and they are not set up correctly, my apology.

Yes the original 2.3 had the donut drivers top and bottom of the outside 4 driver array. In other words opposite of the 2.3tl.

The 2.3TL's are better than the 1.2TL's? Why is that, What has been done differently besides the obvious numbers of drivers and tweeters?

Two pieces down in your rack is a Sony disc player, use that for CD's instead, it should sound better.

You should get rid of the haflers. They're terribly bright and fatigueing. The 2.3tl's sound okay (Better than the 1.2tls) but I'd get rid of them too for the the SDA2B's or better yet the 7b's!

The 1.2TL projects the sound above your head like you're sitting in the orchestra pit. The 2.3TL projects more like you're in the 10th row level with the musicans.

I’m not saying they’re better, I’m looking at how you have everything crammed together in what looks to be a fairly smaller room, the 2.3tl’s will do everything and then some for you.
You’re not doing the speakers or your ears any favors having them pushed together like that.

So you ask what we think of your setup, and when a few point a couple things out, nothing is hooked up, and just stored in this room?

Yes, Its not hooked up at the moment, when it is, they are setup correctly with the correct X,Y and Z Spacing. Of course not all preamps are hooked up at the same time, but I have those because I found them that someone was trying to basically throw them away and I wanted to save them. I'm not complaining at all that I'm getting feedback, whether it's positive or negative, That is why I posted it. I thank everyone for their input!

On must recordings, in my room, my 1.2TLs do project the sound over my head when I am sitting down, as if I am sitting in front of musicians standing in front of me. If I stand up, I am face to face with the musicians. On some orchestral recordings, some instrumental images do come from above the speakers.

I have original 2.3’s with the donut drivers and mine would be set up like you have. That being said yours should be reversed if they are the tl’s. I’m supposed it doesn’t say on the back of the speaker which is the left and which is the right.

Normally they are setup correctly and they do show left and right on the dataplate on the backside. Thanks
