SDA Interconnect Question

OK, so I've gotten around to rebuilding a pair of SDA 2B's I picked up a while back. These have pin/blade connectors and didn't come with the OEM cable. I had planned on replacing the stock IC connectors with Neutrik plugs. But now that I'm taking a closer look, it appears that just one wire actually carries signal between the speakers. Since my amp is common ground, now I'm thinking I'll add a third banana plug for the interconnect and leave the old pin/blade socket in place. Is this a bad idea? Stick with the Neutrik?

Stick with the Neutrik. Wire the Neutrik just like it is wired now. Common ground amp or not throwing a 800va transformer in the mix does have beneficial results and if you find a good dual mono or any number of non-commom ground amps you're ready to go. You're in there do it up right the first time.

Thanks Pitdogg, I'm new to the SDA world - but for now I'll proceed with the Neutrik install. I assume you're referring to a Dreadnought transformer?

Yes I was referring to the stock, off the shelf 800va transformer.

Wow, now you've got me going down the Dreadnought rabbit hole! Maybe after I finish reworking these 2B's. Question - is there any particular brand of 800va transformer you like, and must they be 115-115v secondary voltage?

Here's some pics of the Neutrik install and the finished CO board.

Thanks F1 I think it's the Avel Lindberg Y236906 which I'm trying to find for sale, but no luck yet. Parts Express has a dozen others from Avel but no Y236906. I'll contact them directly after the Holidays.

@Sitka, Are you installing Neutriks on your dreadnaught or binding posts?

Trying to keep costs down while maintaining quality. Everything except the torroid came from Partsxpress. Will add the Dynamat later.

Good job. I got the same 800VA and I see your wires exit upwards the torroid also.

My Yamaha AS 2200 is a common ground amp hooked up to a pair of SDA 2B's with TL mod. However, with the Dreadnought now attached - big improvement in soundstage and imaging. It may have also improved tweeter clarity as well. Also without the Dreadnought, the amp ran slightly warm - now running cool. I built a short 3' interconnect and left the SDA cable in tact, so tomorrow I'll play around with some A B comparisons with and without the Dreadnought. First impression is it's worth the effort and cost. Thanks to all for your generous help!
