Need help with rti 12 repair

So I left my amps on while I was at work one day and I came home to the smell of burnt voice coils in my room. Low and behold one of my RTI 12's had cooked two of the three 7" woofers. After searching for Rd7225-1 replacements I could not find any. However there are plenty of Rd7224-1 replacements around which are the 7" woofers used in RTI 10's.

Any chance I can use the Rd7224-1's as replacement on my RTI 12's

First I'd be finding out why the speakers got fried. Something is wrong.

Sounds like your amp(s) is sending DC current which is bad. Check with a multimeter before hooking any speakers to it again.
For rig details, see my profile. Nothing here anymore...

Considering they have different part numbers the drivers will have different specs. How different I can't say. Perhaps a call to Polk is in order.

Edit: It looks like they may still be available, but currently out of stock. I'd contact Encompass to see if they have more info.
