PC Graphics Card HDMI [Out] to Magnifi Mini AX HDMI [In]

I would like to connect my Magnifi Mini AX directly to my graphics card to use as my primary sound device.

This is a very common setup and works without issue on my Sonos soundbar. I wanted something smaller for desk and picked up the Magnifi Mini AX. Sadly, the Mini AX doesn't detect as a sound device like my Sonos bar does when I'm connected via HDMI.

Since it works on the Sonos bar but not my Magnifi Mini AX I'm wondering if I'm missing something or if it's a feature not supported by Magnifi Mini AX. Any help is appreciated.

Firmware is 5.16. HDMI cable is 2.1 but I've tried 2.0 as well. Magnifi Mini AX says "No Signal" and is never detected by computer. GPU is a 7900XTX.

I'm wondering if there is a INPUT change you have to make on the Magnifi? Maybe that is why it's not detecting. Sonos only has 1 HDMI input so there is no INPUT change you have to make except in the app you select TV and away you go.
Change INPUTS on the Magnifi and see if that gets it going.
Also Try a Optical OUT IF your computer has one and see if that works. Maybe there is something wrong with the Magnifi if either source works. You can try a CD player, a DVD player, anything with a Optical OUT to see if it plays.

  • I appreciate the advice Mantis. I have used the Toslink connection and it does work. The HDMI works too, but only when connected to a television. I'll try tinkering around with it again but I do believe this is a limitation with the Magnifi Mini AX.

I went on to Amazon and ordered this guy: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0C996Q4YP?ref=ppx_pt2_dt_b_prod_image

I'm going to try it out and see if it will assist in tricking the Magnifi Mini AX that there is a television hooked to it and see if it will provide it audio. If not, I'll probably just give up and move on. It still sounds fine, just wish I could push Atmos.
