I don't have any YET lol, that's why I mentioned I wish I had them.
This is an offer I will take up if I ever find some. -

Made a set of snub-nose phase plugs for these mid ranges and installed another set of Clarity PX caps with new internal wiring....

The black anodizing on this particular set was damaged by previous owner, so I’ll make them with the brushed alloy patina… Over the years I’ve used NaOH solutions, but have found heavy duty oven cleaner works great with 2 applications…

The other midrange coil was fried, so I unwound a 25.5mm ID 6.5ohm coil down to 5.2ohm to match the other midrange driver. Cut to 0.950″ total length with 0.44″ coil length to match as well. Glued in and set with shims leaving wires close to ferrule attachment points for soldering….

Tired of the foam I had under them to angle up at the desk....

Finally got around to doing the millwork on the rear covers...

Got time to finish these today. Went with cross-hatch fly-cut. Will install these in my desk-top 100's this weekend...

Beautiful!
Love the idea on the bars for the angle adjustment- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -
Thanks Trey...
I omitted the thin sheet metal bracket mounts as they’ll be attached and sealed with polyurethane rubber adhesive. This will mitigate any resonance at the highest volumes….Don't take experimental gene therapies from known eugenicists. -
I had to go back to page 1 to refresh my memory. This is the before? What is the material....plastic?

Yes. Think RD0194/8 plastic . Even with the butyl mat, it makes a hollow sound when rasped on. The alloy enclosures with butyl mat are solid.Don't take experimental gene therapies from known eugenicists.

Finally got a weekend day to reassemble the new covers. Had to grind down the factory ABS crossover mounts to clear the alloy crossbraces.
I like the nickel plated binding posts with the patina. Added 4×4×5/8" open cell foam top and bottom directly behind mids as well. These added a couple lbs. to the build.

Any discernible sound signature change, or do you not have enough listening time yet?George / NJ

A block aluminum like that maybe sure you are an inch or more away from coils turned on their side and maybe 2 inches for ones laying flat- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit.

Another delay unfortunately. Will have to install when I get to the shop as our dryer threw a drum roller. Sounded like a full auto mini 14. Luckily Bezos had a rebuild kit with new belt and tensioner over-nighted.

Had to go back and clearance the instep on one plate because it was off a 16th an inch from the other that was mic'd for the tech drawing. decided to go with clear poly adhesive in a syrine for easy cleanup.
I'll clean with mineral spirits when the glue dries...

I A-B'd them before installing 2nd plate. Clearly no vibes coming from new back panel and it tightened up the enclosure itself. Had another shop friend have a listen to Steely Dan's Black Cow. He said he could also clearly hear difference in the mid-bass between plastic one and solid alloy one. Gluing 2nd one up now.Don't take experimental gene therapies from known eugenicists.

Thought I'd post a pic of another modder's CX100 build. He cracked out the foam and Dremel...

Thanks Bird, but that wasn't my rabbit-hole detour. I did like his frame window mod the most.Don't take experimental gene therapies from known eugenicists.

Well, do we have a verdict on the frame window/foam mods?
Here’s the verdict… Crazy holographic 3d imaging. Zero cabinet coloration. Treble is vastly improved and much smoother. The bass response is very slightly more extended than before, but ultimately it is still too bass light overall. I think that at some point in the future, I will be sending them to Danny Richie to see what he can do with them.

I just realized he changed the cap value to 5uf from 6.8uf to tame the tweets. This would be a no-no, no?Don't take experimental gene therapies from known eugenicists.
