Focal Day

Hello everyone,
I had a really good time with my wife at World Wide Stereo and Video. They had 4 demo rooms setup like mini training . It was awesome.Focal was there and had speakers in each room and I got to listen to all of them.

All Focal lines are pretty awesome. What a awesome line they have from top to bottom.
We compared them to the B&W 801's and I gotta tell you, as much as I like B&W, I liked he Focal's more.

I took a few pics as they where cleaning up, so the fold up chairs are being put away, the 2nd pair of Focal Floor standers where kinda in the way of the top models but I still got a pic anyway.

Check them out.mpfg5fubxcxd.jpeg

World wide stereo has a great facility. I drove up from Annapolis and bought my Aria 926 from them back in 2017. Great CS and knowledge at that place. Also got me hooked on Focal

I was offered to work their back in 2008 when Tweeter went down. I declined due to another offer. But in many ways I wish I took the offer, grew within the company as they are the closet thing I have seen to what I enjoy. They are a very complete company and carry great stuff.

From my understanding, the Focal Chora lineup has now been replaced with the Theva lineup.

Is World Wide still selling Wilson speakers? I have not been to that store in ages, but when I started college at Penn State Ogontz. I often stopped in there to lust over the gear. Have you visited Audiolab in Morrisville? I listened to the NAD M33 (basically a Bluesound Node on Viagra and Steroids) and was astounded that a class D amplifier could sound that good. I suppose, for $6000.00 it damn well better sound good. Anyway, maybe I will drop by WWA the next time I an in the area.

Yes and I talked to the Rep's about them. They made some improvements on the new line. They are a direct replacement and they sound fantastic.

I don't think so, I didn't see any Wilsons anywhere. I use to work at Audiolab, they carry awesome gear. They have an array of speakers.

They appear to be very similar except for a different wave guide for the tweeter and some cosmetic tweaks. The Chora speakers I have are excellent for the money, especially the center channel which is very clear on vocals for movies and TV. Not bright or harsh sounding at all for music.

I never got to hear that line. I talked to the rep and he said cosmetically they are better especially the front as they changed it.

It's good they changed the finish on the front. I had to send one of my 826Ds back to Crutchfield because the vinyl they stuck on the front baffle was bubbling and peeling. The rest of the cabinet was perfect. The speaker would have been better if they'd used the same light wood finish all around the cabinet but I haven't had problems in the last couple years with mine.

I watched a couple Youtube videos on the new line and they do look much better finished on the front. Looks like it might be a piano black painted baffle, the waveguide is rubberized and oval rather than plastic, and they moved the port to the rear of the cabinet. There's also a Vestia line which may be the next step up from what I can tell. Looks like those may be the speakers in the first photo that are blocking the big ones.
