Thanks Paul for taking the time, sounds good to me.
These cheesy portable XM tuners just don't cut it. Output is too low and high frequencies seem severely rolled-off...is Polk gonna improve upon these known issues? Oh, Paul...I posted news of the up and coming XM tuner on the XM radio forum...
...Polk better build ALOT of these! Those folk's are excited!!!Source: Bluesound Node 2i - Preamp/DAC: Benchmark DAC2 DX - Amp: Parasound Halo A21 - Speakers: MartinLogan Motion 60XTi - Shop Rig: Yamaha A-S501 Integrated - Shop Spkrs: Elac Debut 2.0 B5.2 -
Thats because its cool My man.If one was built to gear size with better DAC's and the ability to connect good cable to they would sell madly. We sell the cheap ones already with stellar results.

My personal quest is to save to world of bad audio, one thread at a time. -
I also noticed the low output (gain) and rolled off high frequencies of both XM and Sirius. These both need improvement.
Also, as mentioned already, give us a preout with something we don't need to connect with a 1/8 inch minijack to rca splitter (female). I would like to see regular RCA outputs so that nice interconnects could be used with the tuner. -
Amen to that Pjdami. Alot of folks on the XM forum are screaming for a digital output as well...Source: Bluesound Node 2i - Preamp/DAC: Benchmark DAC2 DX - Amp: Parasound Halo A21 - Speakers: MartinLogan Motion 60XTi - Shop Rig: Yamaha A-S501 Integrated - Shop Spkrs: Elac Debut 2.0 B5.2

I haven't heard XM, but I listen to Sirius. Any Big difference?
Will they come out with something for Sirius also, or is this a strategic alliance with XM??? -
Well, they teamed up with Delphi for the Polk/MOMO amps, and assuming it's the same Delphi that does XM tuners, I doubt they will do a Sirius system.LSi 9/C/FX

Sirius is a Delphi wanna-beCTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

That's cool. I aust get the sirius with my sattelite service. My goal is to have the same tunes playing all over the yard. The yard is around five acres, though.
I can do it now with just the HT rig, but I have to crank it and open all the windows. That works, but on the hot muggy days, it ain't cool w/ the AC shut off.
If I set up four smaller zones, I think it'd be better. But to spend over $1200 on just the tuners...
I don't wanna runn all that wire, what about wireless transmission?
Doro, your the sprint network guru, help a brother out, (and no she won't let me put up no big **** tower...:D ) -

From the press release I read, it was strictly a Polk/XM deal. Who knows what the future may bring....
Most folks prefer XM because of better coverage (2 satellites vs 1 for Sirius). As far as content goes, its a subjective thing.Source: Bluesound Node 2i - Preamp/DAC: Benchmark DAC2 DX - Amp: Parasound Halo A21 - Speakers: MartinLogan Motion 60XTi - Shop Rig: Yamaha A-S501 Integrated - Shop Spkrs: Elac Debut 2.0 B5.2 -
Sirius has 2 satellites also. Don't be hatin'!

huh huh huh........He said geo-synchronous........

That is an easy one. Buy one of the FM transmitters you use between a walkman and your car FM tuner. Make sure you buy a portable one (they have an actual antenna, not a cable that goes in line with your car antenna), hook it up to the preamp output jacks of your stereo and you are on the air. Of course the unit will have to be mounted outside where it wont get wet. The range on the unit should be close to your yard parameter so far as it is line of site. I bought mine for just this purpose but have only played with it. It easily reaches throughout my small yard from inside the house but would do a lot further if I mounted it outside.

Avantgarde horns, 300b tubes, thats the kinda crap I want... -
Looks like the competition will be with the Sirius' Kenwood DT7000S home tuner. It has the L/R analog outputs and digital Toslink optical output for a home based system.
Retails for $299 (price at Crutchfield).
I've got Sirius right now and do suffer from dropouts
However, I could be easily persuaded over to XM with the Polk receiver. -

Damn, that thing is ugly.
It's like "Let's do pleasing aluminum hues, but go with a UFO design."
"Awesome, ship it."

I demo'd an Audiogon, VMPS subwoofer, for Hoosier21, and the owner had that Kenwood/Sirius piece. It worked, satellite is satellite for the DC area. It performed as advertised.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.
