Older Magnifi Mini ARC problems forever

Hello figured I would start a new post since most are old. I have had this Mini for a long time and it has NEVER just been flawless. It was connected to a Samsung and it worked pretty well for the most part but constantly had to be disconnected and rediscovered. As time went on it got worse. Volume problems, volume take off etc. I blamed the TV and it was time for an upgrade anyway. I purchase a new OLED LG C class super nice TV. This is actually worse. I am using a Google Chromecast with Android TV. It shows what formats it thinks are available and no matter what it never thinks any surround format is available. I literally spent hours trying to get it to work. I for sure had to disable eARC on the TV, to get sound. I have tried every setting. I found that some have had to remove it from the HOME app so I did that as well. I took the Chromecast out of the picture, and just used the streaming apps on the TV. Same results. Finally I factory reset the thing. still nothing. There seems to be a big compatibility issue. Even setting everything end to end to PCM, volume still messes up, etc. Tried optical as well and same results. I have been a Polk Audio fan from way back. All my wired speakers and subs have been Polk, so when I wanted a soundbar of course I went Polk. This thing gives Polk a bad name which really bums me out. We put in a Sonos on a B class similar TV and it worked out of the gate.. I would still like to get this to work till I can get something else so I am all ears if anyone has any ideas. I think I have tried everything. sorry that got long
