Is My AVR Toast?

My Denon AVR-985 recently developed an issue. I have my Samsung smart TV optical out going to it and my Blue Ray player digital coax going to it also. Recently when I would pause or mute I would get a loud buzz/pop then no sound. If I turned it off it would be good again for a while. Now it just doesn't work on any digital input.
Is it time to look for a new one?

Sounds like it.
Have you tried a factory reset for fun?
I've not really heard of digital sections going bad before. Have you checked around to see if it's a common issue with that unit?
So it went bad while using the BRP with the digital coax?
Do the analog inputs still work on the Denon?
If you don't want to buy a new one right now, got any old DACs kicking around?
You could run your BRP into the TV over HDMI and then out to the DAC and analog ins to your Denon.I disabled signatures. -
I ended up picking up a fairly new Denon AVR-2807 from a guy who was downsizing. Didn't even need to reprogram my Harmony!
I may use the old one in my garage if analog inputs still work.Gustard X26 Pro DAC
