Say Hi and My Monitor 5b

Options
First post here so just wanted to say Hi!

I came across this forum at the weekend whilst researching if a pair of Monitors were a good purchase ($15 at the local goodwill, one mid woofer has a small tear in it and 3 of the grill posts are broken on that same speaker and it had been glued to the cabinet!!! Also the dust cap on the other mid driver has been pushed in so needs to try pop that out!)

From a post here I worked them out to be the 5b, they're in excellent shape aside from the above few issues, I've ordered a used driver off eBay for $59 delivered but also plan to repair the one I have, so I at least have a back up.

I've been reading up on these and what modifications to do, for now I want to enjoy them in original form and plan upgrades from there (it appears some people like the tweeters but most don't, so we'll see how my old worn out ears feel about them! I'm by no means an audiophile!!),

Only thing I am going to do is some JB weld on the magnets to prevent any slip issues later down the line, just a little on the front and back plate to magnet joint correct?

Anyway thanks for listening
Ash

If you call "a little" a complete bead all the way around, then yes.

Good Score. Fully modded, the 5B's are formidable for their footprint. Welcome to the rabbit-hole as they say.
