Kimber Kable and the 8tc 8tc bi wires

ok,
over the last year I have been upgrading all my cables to Kimber.I started with a simple pair of Heros and found to like them more then Transparent and Monster.Transparent was a big no huge step to audio perfection for me.Monster was a great company to get it all started to the path.....

So I buy Kimber Digital, more IC's and such then I pick up some 8tc 8tc double run bi wires.I hook them up and let them play for awhile. Before I could leave the room for some playing time before I listen,I already notice a huge difference in my overall sound quality.Ok this is intresting....

So I sit back and put on Norah Jones and find a level of air I didn't think possible with my current systemAir is the first thing that comes to mind.I could hear everything before I did the upgrade put now everything is so distant from each other that it's like my sound is floating in the air......I don't exactly know how to explain it.

My biggest problem with the Lis15's is the lack of low extension.I have been dissadisfied with the response.I thought that a better amp would be nessary to achive the level of control I think the Lsi's are capable of.Now I know they are.A wire upgrade should provide better sounding or differnet sounding results.but I didn't expect such sounding control. Was my older wire restricting my amp that much???I assume it was.

8tc is a 9 guage wire in a single run.Mine are a double run bi wire.I was gonna go for just a single run with Kimber Jumpers for the lower end ,then I thought about it and along time ago I noticed bi wiring sound better with every single speaker I tested a single run with.SO bi wires where the logical choice.you can however make a single run of 8tc a bi wire. You actually make a 4tc 4tc bi wire when doing so.I didn't want that.

In all my audio life persuing the next level of sound reproduction,I never had such a small upgrade do so much.Even sitting off axsis I can hear the speakers really open up.I just gotta laugh.I love this hobbie.

I also noticed better connection betweens tones and sound. The speaker plays as one.Nothing stands out or lacks. It's the first time I felt this way about the Lsi15's even when I ran them with seperates.

I'm gonna snap a few pic's of my new babies.I'm so happy with my 2 channel sound reproduction.I'm gonna polish off a good bottle of whine tonight.Listening........feeling all about it.

If your looking for new speaker wires or any wires, check out Kimber in your travels.Finding the correct level for your system is critical.I can't preach it enough.Balance is so key.I have learned this and keep re learning it.

8tc what a beautiful thing.I got to write them a letter of sadisfaction.I'm that happy.

Ah come on Troy, let Dan post his pic;) He's enjoying something new and I love it too.

I'd love to see a pic Dan so post away. As you know, I have the single run 8TC that I run bi-wired for a 4TC / 4TC biwire. However, I don't use this combo with the Heros on my LSi 15 / B&K. For my acoustics, I find the Transparent ICs you sold me and the Transparent biwire to work better for me in this already lively room I have. I have compared the two till I was practically going crazy and in the end I kept going back to the Transparent. I feel that there is a little more detail in seperation between instruments here for me at least with Transparent.

Some people feel that LSi sound too flat and lifeless. I found that the case to be so when my LSi 9 were not broken in and I was running regular wire. The LSi 15 with the correct wires and sources I feel doesn't make me want to upgrade the system when I compare them to other speakers that I have in other rooms. These include well respected speakers like Spendor and Dynaudio now. Many people would find that these speakers sound too warm or flat as well. I feel it is truer to the sound but only my opinion here. Weird thing is that all the speakers sound the best on different gear. The Spendors like my tube amp. The LSi like the B&K and the Dynaudio don't like either although they sound better on the tube gear / Musical Fidelity front end than they do on B&K. This is a very strange hobby for sure. Although I love Polk speakers, I love speakers in general as they have the most profound effect on sound. So exploring other speakers I have been busy with. But then again, I feel no need to do anything with the LSi rig in the theater. It doesn't leave me feeling like I need more.

The 15s by themselves at times sound like they have good bass on some recordings but overall I prefer to run them with my sub for two channel.

    pjdami,
yes it's so fun.I love it.it's like the first big upgrade since I moved.

it's all a matter of the room.My room is comfortable for listening to music.Soft and hard surfaces. The only thing wrong with my room is the high ceilings. It bounces around a bit up there when I crank it.But thats not ofter,I don't perfer it loud.

Back to the couch for more...........

Looking good Dan. Congrats on the upgrade. I do use my Kimber in my carpeted office on my tube amp with the Spendor speakers. Here in this room I feel that I need a more zippier sound especially with the warmth of the tube amp.

Sometimes I keep the Heros in and change the speaker cable to the DH Labs Q10 biwire I also have. Not as zippy but I feel just a different sound not better or worse. I'm going through another interation on judging again here as well.

Yes, I am finding more and more that the room effects are HUGE.

    pjdami,
I think the zip you hear is the allowance of all the signal to pass correctly.it's all I can make sense of it.

The Heros are I feel a very good Inerconnect.I might have the ability to hear the kimber Selects 1010 in my system.Might be way overkill as I would need to upgradein my opnion to yield sucha polished interconnect.

As soon as they get here(livrfam bought a pair)we are going to conduct a shootout.Heros the selects and a pair of Transparent Musicwaves.Should be cool.I want to try them in both of our systems.he just upgraded to Dynaudio in the Audience line.his dream as well as mine. One day they will be my next upgrade. For now I'm havin alot of fun with what I own.

2 channel might be next to build...........I just love it

Congrats, Dan! I have not upgrade any interconnects nor speaker cables since I got the Transparent i/c from Greg - gshisme (btw, where is he? haven't heard from him in a while)

I am not so inclined of doing cables upgrade nowadays, since it is such a pain to go behind the gears (actually, a money saving feature in itself :) )
I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie.

    polkatese,
sometimes its worth it,sometimes its best left alone. Then sometimes its nice as alot of dust gets all back there.

New wires gives you a reason to clean behind the gear.
