The L400 center channel has a height dimension of 9.47" (26x9.47x13.44in) - the side profile appears tapered (I have not been able to find a schematic). Does anyone have the low side height dimension or other details (i.e. slope)

My TV stand has an opening of around 9.7" but about 10 inches back there is a brace that makes clearance available at 8 inches. Hoping that I can get it to fit - I would prefer the speaker not jut out from the stand which is glass shelves to prevent damage.

Thanks in advance

The speaker would be too large for the stand and would stick out about 4 inches. They need a depth of around 13.75 inches because of the powerports. The clearance height varies from about 9.75 inches height at the front to about 8.75 inches height at the rear. They're only gradually tapered. Need to factor in that they have small rubber bumpers on them too.

A possible alternative might be the Reserve R400 center channel speaker. Would have been nice if Polk had made a smaller option Legend center speaker like they have had in previous LSi lines.

Thanks Emlyn - I would prefer a 3 way center speaker - I don't think any of the R series center speakers are 3 way.

I was originally considering the R700s with the L400 - another option would be the paradigm 800f with 500c or 600c center speaker.

What do you mean, 3 way?

By 3 way I meant the center speaker has a tweeter/midrange/bass. The L400 has this but to my knowledge the R300, R350 and R400 do not.

Ah well, in that case it's really a 4 way as each mid bass driver produces a difference frequency range to help eliminate the effects of comb filtering.
