Signa 2 out put distorted or volume goes down

I've had my Signa 2 for about 4 months and for the most part it works real well. Occasionally the sound gets distorted or the volume goes real low. To get it to work properly I change the channel and come back to the channel I was watching and all is good for a while. It may be OK for days and then act up again.
The sound bar is connected to the TV via optical cable and HDMI cable. I tried it without hooking up the HDMI and after some time it acted up again.
I've disconnected the power numerous times.
Thinking there may be something with the TV I connected it to another one and it cut out once on me there also.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
