So, I'm almost ashamed of myself, but I'm gonna start an EV truck thread ;)

I'm fine with a lot of people buying ev. More gas for me!
I have no plans for buying ev. I will run both cars until the
wheels fall off. Maybe a tech breakthrough will come out
at some point. Right now, not all that great of an option.
But as I was told years ago, you can spot the pioneers
by all the arrows sticking out of their back. Any new tech
starts out pretty shakey. The promise of "multimedia" pc's
took years to become a reality. Maybe in 10 years ev might
fulfill it's promises. Or become a tech dead end.

So I see a number of dealerships getting into to trouble for trying
to sell f150 lightnings for twice the msrp. Ford management has
given stern warnings and threatened to not send them any more.
Getting any new car at msrp has become a rare event.
I hope people take note and avoid those businesses in the
future. The white house is busy telling other businesses not
to price gouge. How are these guys getting away with it?

Are these gasoline or diesel? In that case they may like the consumer getting gouged if it levels the playing field in EV vs ICE, since they want to push EVs on everyone.

They are getting away with it because businesses that rely on reliable vehicles as part of the business model? Well, they need just that. A reliable vehicle.

They don't have the time, nor the manpower (or experience) to take an older truck and magically make it reliable.

With the market being what it has been over the last few years?

    This is the end result.

Heck, Ford can't even sell vehicles right now because they don't have the Blue Ford emblem to put on the vehicles....

That's how insane things are right now.

I saw a Rivian "pickup" on the road today -- just down the street and around the corner from our road. It had a bike in the back. :|

I wonder if its owner/driver has dealt with their recall yet? I'm guessing -- no.

I'm getting tired of kids laughing at me for putting "Lightning" badges on my stupid gas powered truck.

John, I hate to break it to ya' man but there are real world consequences for being one of the cool kids.

Having a truck one could utilize one in, if so desired, is cool. Hauling heavy loads/campers/boats is cool. Using your truck, well, AS A TRUCK is definitely cool. Well, at least it is to me. That's why I bought one to begin with.

Well, MY Lightning went camping this weekend and actually went offroad to get to the campsite. I don't know that it has the payload capacity for a slide-in camper, though.

Big Sloppy might. Well, actually it does, it just doesn't have the hook ups for it. I'd have to wire those myself. But with a 9460 pound GVW and a curb weight of 3940 pounds, it could probably haul two slide outs stacked on top of each other.

Come to think of it, I need to go to NY to go pick up speakers that are taller than I am. With the boxes, they will be about 600 pounds of additional weight and need a full size bed to bring them back down. That's over 24 hours of constant driving and over 1,400 miles round trip.

I'm not saying that I could not do it with an EV but the challenges I would face to accomplish this? No thanks.

... and if you had a strategy to do it with an EV truck, imagine the consequences if, somewhere along the way, Lizzo asked you to give her a lift? :o

Yep! And since a slide out only weighs like 800-1200 pounds, I could still tow a boat and be the big shot at The Redneck Riviera!

We (dad) always had one, I thought they worked great ....if your truck had the springs.
