On topic :p other than the currently fasionable right whale baleen-style grille, the new Corolla looks OK to me (FWIW). Not great, but OK.

Toyota, bless their hearts, have -- I'd opine -- foisted far fewer truly, deeply, profoundly ugly vehicles on the US market than has Datsun/Nissan over the decades. Nissan sold some dreadful/dreadfully ugly cars in the US in the late-70s/early-80s. Toyota didn't get quite as suckered in by their (mis?) perception of American tastes in that era, I'd opine.

The starter motor on the new Corolla probably has more HP (and definitely more torque) than did the F10's "engine" B)

The "modern" FJ doesn't quite have the panache of a real FJ (i.e., FJ-40) -- but I'd consider it more brute cute than ugly, FWIW. ;)

    but, back to Toyota.

Thing of beauty, but I'm an off road truck kind of guy. The main problem with that one is the front suspension can't take any kind of serious off roading.

The FJ40 was damn near off road perfection. In line 6 for maximum torque, redline 3000, first gear top speed maybe 5 mph. Climbs hills that leaves a CJ wimpering.

I was rather smitten by the FJ40/Land Cruiser in the mid/late '70s -- not that my Bronco couldn't get the job done... but the danged Toyotas were nice. :)

The fender flare and boxy front and back does break up the smooth lines of the current 2022 model. IMO, I think the Corolla is one of the best looking hatchbacks out right now. I like the looks better that the Golf, Civic, Kia Rio, etc.

Those newer FJ’s have great resale value! 2007 models around here are still marked up around 20K. There is a rumor of a new version of the truck coming. Notorious for lots of blind spots and windshield that attracts rocks. Otherwise looks like a fun rig to mod! Peace. D vzl5vuwrt8q7.png

I can see that huge Driver's A pillar blind spot from here. :o

My 95 Camry has the same problem but I'm pretty sure it's not THAT bad.

Only at slow speed, if people walk toward my driver's side to cross in front of me while I'm going almost the same speed, I can't see them till the last second.

It's happened about 5 to 10 times in 25 years. Most walkers were looking at their phones. The one the other day was thankfully watching me and stopped walking across my path. ;) My wife even yelled at me to stop. :s

I really never saw him until he stopped and the wife screaming "STOP" at the same time. :#
Most people just listen to music and watch movies. I EXPERIENCE them.
