Looking for a couple or maybe just one for now. Hopefully near mint and possibly rackmount version, either doesn’t matter. Going back to separates for my HT.

**EDIT**I’m actually any small to mid sized multi channel amp, preferably 5-7 channels possibly 3. I was hoping for another parasound but all their multi’s are waaaay too big and more power and girth than I need. I’d consider some of the emotiva basX line which are small, affordable and feature packed. And Adcom has come out with so many different models like the 6006, 7605, 7300, 7400, 2535, 6000 etc. I’m leaning that way. Gotten to where 12v triggers dont matter much but honestly is needed although could be maybe be added if needed. ThanksHome theater:

Something similar to this works well for my Parasound HCA-1500A.
Tripp Lite 8 Outlet (5 Energy Saving) Surge Protector Power Strip, 8ft Cord, Right-Angle Plug, Lifetime Limited Warranty & $150,000 INSURANCE (TLP808NETG) Grey https://www.amazon.com/dp/B003A7P262/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_i_2R4KEANM9PYXVGBPCC5D -
Tripp lite makes a good one too. My system is a dual purpose one, I currently have a denon receiver powering my center and surrounds and Parasound P6 bypass for my fronts powered by the same amp.Home theater:

Would ya consider a 5 X 100WPC THX certified Rotel RB-985? You may find the original FS ad elsewhere on this forum.

Better choice with the HCA-750. I had refurbished a HCA-800ii and an HCA-1000A. The HCA-800ii had several caps go out of spec. The 1000A were all still in spec. Plus, I believe the 750 was a John Curl design, not so for the 600.Stan

It’s a good amp and it is a curl design. It’s nice amp and sounds really awesome. I’m hoping to get another for my surrounds sometime then a processor but one step at a time lol. I felt like getting a 1000 but at that point is overdoing it power wise. I hooked my rta’s to it and it sounded great. I didn’t really push it or anything, more or less just making sure it worked.Home theater:

HCA-750 a John Curl design? No mention of that in the first link…
https://parasound.com/vintage/hca750a.php
This links mentions John Curl and design in the same place
https://parasound.com/vintage/hca1000a.php The 1000*power specs 110 WPC into 8 ohms, of course higher into 4 ohms etc etc
*two features of the “a:” makes more power and has a 12VDC trigger connection. A PS Cap refresh can mitigate the power differences.
I agree the 750 specs out well, good for speakers of average to above average sensitivity. More complex loads or higher volumes may challenge it.

Ok the 750 design was only influenced by John Curl, it doesn’t say it was designed by him.Home theater:

Ok, I may have misspoken about the 750a being a John Curl design. The internals look nearly identical to the 1000A that was designed by Mr. Curl but scaled back. None the less, it is a nice little amp.
John Curl has said on another forum that the HCA-1000(A) was not one of his best designs because it was constrained by the size of the cabinet and had to make compromises. He used the largest PS caps that he could get at the time and that would fit in the low profile cabinet. There are better caps available now that do fit. I was able to upgrade mine and also got some information on biasing the amp beyond the factory settings. It was based on temperature rather than a specific voltage. This does require keeping the amp well ventilated.Stan

That’s interesting. You’re right the internals look the same to me too. Oh man I’m sure capacitor sizes have gone through leaps and bounds since the amp came out😁

Yep. I was on DIYAUDIO and Mr JC chimed in and gave me some good advise. I would think that it would apply to the HCA-750A too if you are that adventurous.
I did recap the HCA-1000A and the HCA-800ii. The biggest difference going with higher quality caps was the background had much lower noise, very dark in a good way,Stan

I am, but today I was thinking today to hold out for another 1205 for my ht. There’s a rack mount one on eBay right now that would loo super cool next to my rack mount 1500! but I do t have the cash to get it. If I could get one I’d let the 750 go pretty quick so I’d be waiting on doing any mods on it.

A 1205 is slightly more than a 5 ch HCA-1000A.
