Equipment cover?

Any recommendations on equipment coverings? If that's even the correct term.

Have a few pieces I'd like to cover to keep the level of physical cleaning to a minimum. Not really wanting the large plexi statement cover types, cost and ease of use are also a priority.

What say you?

I have digital deck covers for my speakers

A fine-finished satin(y) cloth (could be real silk or polyester) makes a nice cover, IMO.
Way back when, an old hifi buddy covered his Nak 600 cassette deck (a slope-decked toploader in its default configuration) with a piece of satiny black fabric. Quite nice, thought I then (and, in my mind's eye, at least, still now).

Thanks for the suggestions, the website looks like the way. Will have to search through for sizes, my stuff isn't listed.

I throw a microfiber cloth over some stuff, but it does move around and fall at times. Wanting something a but more purposeful.

    Thanks

Been meaning to get covers for all my gear, but I am a huge procrastinator. I believe a couple Polkies have bought from this guy. @SCompRacer comes to mind, IIRC.

    Here is another.
I have it save to buy one for my Oppo. I've contacted them to make one for my Aragon amp as well. Price was $5 more than the Oppo.

I'm a practical kind of guy. Some oversized microfiber towels get the job done for me. As an added bonus, you can use them to dust off your gear...

More than likely forced air heating/cooling. Steam heated houses have a fraction of the dust generated by forced air...

I've lived in both, didn't notice any difference.

Until recently this house was a mix of radiant and traditional hot-water baseboard heat.
It is now augmented with some high-effiency heat pumps as we slowly edge away from hydrocarbon combustion :)

That said, the dust hasn't changed -- we live on a dirt road. Dust is pretty endemic around these parts.

So how well do these cover the backsides of your gear with cables sticking out? Currently interested in one for the Oppo and my Parasound A31.

I've found that they don't cover the cables sticking out, if they are sized to match the equipment. I ordered mine 2" longer, depth wise, to cover everything. You could cut the back side to make a flap that would hang over the cables. I did that to one of mine, still works...

Some the back has a flap that is not sewn on the sides to allow room for wires.

Mine has a flap on the back. No siren goes off when you lift it though, like the one the ladies would lift on the Indian statue in that tavern by Fox Lake 50 years ago. (They would lift the front flap).

  • @smglbrth has good advice about maybe needing longer covers. If you use aftermarket feet, pads, etc., then even if they have a cover for your specific piece of equipment, it may not be tall enough. I use DigitalDeckCovers like others recommended.
