Schiit Freya + w/NAD M51

So my current setup is Auralic Aries LE - NAD M51 - Parasound HCA2200ii - Polk L200

Never owning anything with tubes but looking for an upgrade to the preamp, and have read and watched a ton of great reviews on the Schiit Freya + to go along with the price range I can swing. I’m hoping to get that large sound improvement like I got when recently upgrading my speakers.

I guess my question is, does anyone have any experience with the M51 then upgrading pre/dac, or owning the Freya+ ?
Also how would that work, using just the DAC to the Freya? Just somehow turn off the preamp section of the NAD?
I’d possibly look into a DAC change after that, unless it sounds great w/m51.

Thanks!

I loved my m51, and never used it as a pre, just a DAC going into an integrated amp. Easy to set it to fixed volume, just look in the manual or online.

I have no experience with the kinda schitt to which you refer…

The NAD M51 appears to be an excellent unit with capable pre/volume control functionality. I believe you would get more benefit by upgrading your amplifier. Benchmark AHB2 if you can swing it.
