It's an old compare but I thought this video was pretty good.

Hello all,
I was just fooling around on YouTube and stumbled on this video. This dude seems to be a polk guy, might be a member here but I enjoy his reviews/videos.

This video he made as his opinion on why he prefers bookshelf speakers over towers. Many of us don't feel as he does but it was interesting to get his perspective.

Check it out.

    Man I can't wait to try Buffalo Bill's! 😂

As far as monitors paired with dual stereo subs (it's gotta be dual...not a single) vs towers I now land in the monitor/subs camp.

I've had both set ups & I really like the flexibility & sound of monitors/subs.

I look at towers as an AVR... everything cramed into a single box trying to do it all & it just ain't happening. Something has to give.

The monitors/subs are like running separates vs an AVR.

Now if one doesn't want to be bothered with the work involved in properly setting up dual subs (it's a lot of work, trial & error & not everyone's cup of tea) then towers are perfect & will fill the bill nicely.

Whatever your preference is...as long as you enjoy the music 🎶 is all that matters. 🎶🎶🎶

I find it interesting. I like hearing different perspectives on that topic. It's a very old topic just like AVR vs Separates , etc etc etc.

I have had towers most of my life and now I'm strongly considering a on wall or book shelf model for my mains.

  • Well, I am really enjoying these R200’s.

Your memory Serves you well. Yes I have 2 DD 10's in my family Room and they are incredible. I plan on a passive tower, bookshelf or On wall model next.

Oh, Listen here mister. We got no way of understandin' this world. But we got as much sense of this bird flyin in the sky. Now there is a lot that bird don't know, but it don't change the fact that the world is happening to him all the same. What I am tryin to say is, is that the course of your life, well its changing, and you don't even see it- Forest Bondurant

Yes I was and still am.
Monitor makes a nice line of speakers and I really enjoy their sound. They have a line called SoundFrames. I personally like the SoundFrame 2's. I may use them as all my floor level speakers meaning L C R up front around the TV on the wall and 2 more for surround duty. Retaining Atmos and adding 2 more to complete a 5.2.4 Atmos setup.

When positioned on the wall correctly, Music is still a real achievable not that I listen to music more then everything else but it's still something that is important to me in that room so position will be key.

I just don't want things on the floor anymore , I don't want powered towers, really don't want towers again and Bookshelf on stands basically take up the same space.

Here are the Sound Frames if you want to check them out

I plan on adding cool art to each speaker for a killer stealth look. They have an array of nice art and you can also submit your own.
