May take years to reach the conclusion here but part 1 is done... Remove the back panels to see what's up.
After twenty plus years, they were basically glued shut! Custom handles and a metal bar for leverage, they came off with much effort
Interesting tid bits, the bass enclosure takes up half of the middle enclosure.
The tweeter adjustment is flat, plus one db, down one db. I went to down one db for my room.

That looks like fun.....lolPolitical Correctness'.........defined

This is gonna be an incredible and fun journey for Trey.
Stock, these speakers present a midbass/bass that you have never heard before. You won't know what this means until you hear it.
Modified, these things will make a grown man cry.
Tom~ In search of accurate reproduction of music. Real sound is my reference and while perfection may not be attainable? If I chase it, I might just catch excellence. ~ -
This could be the start of something awesome 😁

Sounds realistic.

Holy crap Trey, I thought there was no way that was going to sound good, but it did. Quite a bit of weight in that passage.I disabled signatures.

Thanks man... The grandes are ferocious. Their midbass is unlike anything I've heard... On top of the sub 20hz capabilities. The high end dramatically cleaned up with the new parts thrown in there.- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit.

Dang Trey, those are gorgeous I heard a pair of these years ago powered by a massive Boulder amp, in a dealers main room and they were GLORIOUS Congratulations on owning a pair them
-
My phone's speaker about popped. Taking requests? Nice work as usual.Don't take experimental gene therapies from known eugenicists. -
Thanks guys, they are still mostly stock but definitely coming into their own. I'm not even sure how much use these have had as the drivers and such mostly look new, even the foam around the tweeter.
I'm pretty impatient, I'm about to order the parts for the rest of the build sans a few pieces... They are saying 12 or so weeks lead time.... Aye
@Mike Reeter I bet they sounded awesome On the Boulder gear! My lowly tri Vista integrated is just enough for my space! Although at 95db 1w/1m and 500 watt power handling maybe not to far off. I would love to one day acquire the tri Vista mono block and preamp set... But at pre-owned values of 15k that may be a while and I would need a new house! Lol
Pretty exciting to own a set of these. They are not the best speakers on the planet but they do a whole lot right and are very fun to listen to!- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -
I bet bubble guppies sounds GREAT on them"....not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted." William Bruce Cameron, Informal Sociology: A Casual Introduction to Sociological Thinking (1963)

Ha Ha. Bubble Guppies. Mr. Grouper sits atop the left channel. Mr. Grumpfish used to be on
the right but he moved to the beach a few years ago to hang out with a scantily clad pufferfish.
Spookyz is the cartoon du jour at this time.
