Polk Model 7 Identification

I'm looking at two different pairs of Model 7's. Can anybody help me ID the tweeters used in each? I believe the second image is of a Peerless, but it's upside down compared to my Model 5's. I appreciate any help, thanks.

The first photo is a SL1000. 2nd one is a Peerless w/o the aperture tuning hole that Polk burned in the dome on later production models. That MW in 2nd photo doesn't look original. Dust cap looks off and should be a silver basket to match what you see in the passive radiator.

There is no right side up or down for the tweeters I know of.
@Gardenstater is correct that second picture the midwoofer is not Polk.
    First picture is sl1000
    Second is peerless

Thanks for the answers. Is the SL2000 tweeter as good as the Peerless?

I'm thinking about adding a pair of Polk 7's to my Model 5's to add more bass. Still undecided though. Any insights are much appreciated.

Absolutely not. Neither of those have the foam ring around the dome.

They appear to be SL2500, the tweeters used in Polks Monitor series 2 speakers.

Is the SL2500 tweeter as good as the Peerless? I have a set of Polk Model 5's currently with the Peerless tweeters. My current living area is larger and I need something to help fill in the sound better and add some bass and I was thinking these speakers might work well, but am not sure the SL2500 tweeters would sound as good as the Peerless. Any insights here are much appreciated.

The SL2500 was a cost effective version of the SL3000 Tri-Laminate, with a rubber-like dome. The Peerless was a Silk Dome, far superior. The correct replacement/upgrade for the SL2500, is the RD-0198-1 Tweeter.

I think that the “sound” very subjective to one's own ears. I personally love the peerless and always on the look out for them.
    M7's 1982 Peerless tweeters
    M5's X2 (1981 Peerless tweeters, 1988 with upgraded tweeters)
M4's X2 both with Peerless tweeters
M5Jr with SL1500 (in the garage, they sound great)
    M4.6 series2 X2 with upgraded tweeters
    SDA 2 with upgraded tweeters

They are not interchangeable, so a direct comparison is impossible. That said, I'll take a RD0198 equipped Polk over a Peerless equipped Polk.
