Legacy speakers anyone listened to them?
The guy I bought my SDA 1C's off had a set of Legacy Focus. I listened to them for a couple of minutes. Real pretty and interesting looking, but I really didn't think they sounded thousands of dollars better than the 1C's. In fact I thought the polks sounded as good.
Anyone else test drove them?

Legacy Audio used to have a road show that travel around the country. My buddy and I went and listened to their whole line up (2001 edition). We felt their box speakers (Focus, Signature II and Classic) sounded boxy except for the Studio (only stand mounted speaker). These were in a stereo setup driven by Legacy equipment and a Pioneer Elite DVD player. The Whisper and Empire sounded powerful and open, but these are not box speakers, they're opened at the back and used for the HT demo. These were also driven by Legacy equipment and Pioneer Elite DVD player. They used LAT interconnects.

...but it was hard to tell their sound quality in the couple of minutes I listened to them.
At least they're made in USA, Penn. I believe.

My impressions exactly.
I caught one of Legacy's road show demos a few years back. One reason I was interesting in auditioning them was because Bill Dudleston, Legacy's chief engineer, liked to ridicule Polk Audio speakers in Legacy's product brochures during the early 1990's. When Bill was asked "How do your products compare to other leading speaker manufacturer's like Polk Audio?", Bill responded:
"Our products are not for the first time buyer. It is amazing to me how many different ways Polk can arrange the same drivers on a baffle board."
I really liked the wood finishes on the Legacy speakers.;)Proud and loyal citizen of the Digital Domain and Solid State Country! -
Legacy headquarters is in Illinois.
I was on a mission out there, and at 6A.M. in the morning on the way to the airplane, we were driving down Sangamon Ave. I was thinking to myself that I knew that name from somewhere. Sure enough, about a minute later we drove by Legacy. My luck. 6 A.M. on a Saturday morning as I'm going to work I find the place.

I must say that I was very impressesd with my 2 hrs spent with the Focus 20/20 last January. When I listen to these, they and the Thiel CS 3 6 are the closes that I remember the 1.2tl's sounding like (without the imaging of the SDA). The Thiels are a little lean on the low wnd but the Focus makes up in spades in the bass. The one thing I did notice about the focus was that they really change character with the electronics. If you get a chance to listen to the Focus again try them with either Parasound Halo gear or anything by Krell.2-channelBelles 22A Pre, Emotiva XPA-2 Gen 2, Marantz SA8005, Pro-Ject RPM-10 Turntable, Pro-Ject Phono Box DS3B, Polk Audio Legend L800's, AudioQuest Cable throughout.
