I think DSD 64 will only work in DOP over a SPDIF

I may be way wrong as I do not stream ANYTHING, I was under the impression bitstream or whatever size was too big for sony philip digital interface (SPDIF). My thought process is that you cannot send newer dolby, DTS codac's over fiber it must be HDMI ...

If your sacd player has HDMI output you can send the DSD signal out to a converter like the D-bob and use a SPDIF input on your dac, your dac should see DSD.

Better yet, use analog interconnects from the player to the pre-amp, integrated or AVR. No reason to make all those extra connections running through all those extra circuits. People these days seem to have forgotten to keep it simple.

Some people have to use their outboard dac, so that's the only way I know to do this.

I kept dozens of DVD-A discs from when I was buying them a couple decades ago for not much money. Mainly because they offer an interesting surround sound option. Many of them are also worth a fair amount these days.

I was listening all the way through Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots by The Flaming Lips on DVD-A the other night. Spectacular use of surround audio that adds to the artistic experience. The high res two channel is good too. Another good mix is Rumours by Fleetwood Mac.

One drawback for DVD-A is some of them top out at 48kHz even if they are in 24 bit. The potential for SACD was higher but of course depending on mastering. I find SACD to be best suited to old classical music that was originally recorded on tape. Some SACDs aren’t worth the money but most are in my experience.
