Musical Fidelity finally arrived!

Well it took a solid 1.5 months to coordinate getting here, but it's finally home:

Oh, Listen here mister. We got no way of understandin' this world. But we got as much sense of this bird flyin in the sky. Now there is a lot that bird don't know, but it don't change the fact that the world is happening to him all the same. What I am tryin to say is, is that the course of your life, well its changing, and you don't even see it- Forest Bondurant

    Shweet!

Is that an 8track on the top piece?

Care to elaborate on the 1.5month journey. I know FedEx sux, but that just sounds ridiculous.

It was an Ebay find listed as local pickup. I contacted the guy and he was open to shipping it. At one point I thought I would make it up to Illinois to get it and see my Mom but that never materialized. I finally got around to setting up a FedEx shipping account and he was cool enough to double box it for me. I was glad FedEx Ground came through on this one due I know all the carriers are bursting at the seems with volume. Expect a full review this weekend dudes....

OK an entire weekend got away from me due I lost my bottle of Deoxit. No worries - the fine people at Amazon delivered a new bottle of Deoxit Gold without driving their barely roadworthy van through my front door. I went with an initial setup of MF CD player to Pre to Amp. All units are of the ACR3.2 line. The amp is a complete boat anchor, especially given its small form factor, and the pre is only a tad lighter. The CD player is fairly light. Caution to those of advanced age when going to lift these. All units were thoroughly warmed up for several days on one of three dedicated 20 amp circuits. After two hours of listening Saturday, the amp was much warmer than my Belles amp ever was, and the pre was much cooler than my previous Cary slp 03 pre. While plasticy and light. the remote serves its function and I have a brand new one just in case. All three components are linked through 2 pairs of MIT S1 ICs and speaker cables are of MIT S2 variety. So far I believe my speakers have become the weak link here, but I have yet to fire up my beloved Benchmark DAC2....so more to come shortly.

Random thought about speakers, as the gear rabbit hole has just re-opened for me. I have an opportunity to pick up a pair of Lsi7s for 425.00 shipped, or be patient and score a pair of Totem Skys for just under 1k. The Totems are in better condition FWIW.

I've always like MF gear. I had the chance to listen to one of their integrated amps,(forgot the model) driving a pair of Triangle Audio floor standers. It was definitely magical. Good luck, and I'm also looking forward to your impressions.
See my profile for list of gear.

So I went on a mini binge of buying CDs to give the MF gear a thorough work out. Some more impressions with the DAC2 hooked in. Vocals are more clear and the pre is almost dead silent. If I power everything down it takes about an hour for everything to sound right. Also the doorway next to the right speaker doesn't seem to effect the balance any more. With the Cary pre I found myself clicking the balance control to the right to compensate for left seeming to be much louder. I still have to get Tidal going and spin some vinyl this weekend, so more to come. At this point I have to say this setup will stay put for some years to come! With that I may be putting my 12au7 tubes up for sale...they were all bought here from other Polkies, so drop me a PM if you are interested.
