Actually, (Cliff Clavin moment) there are tools specifically for working on Japanese made audio equipment. Japanese Industrial Standard, JIS.

That is true -- supposedly the proper crossopoint driver for the Japanese screws works much better than does a phillips. There was a long thread on the topic at AK a year or two back*.
I can make pretty much any driver bit known cam out of its hardware, though.

I almost hesitate to mention this marketing tool/pamphlet from Altec (?!)... it's pretty inappropriate in theme in this day and age. I think that's what makes it amusing (if it is!) to eyes viewing it in 2022.
