SDA 2A Distortion Right Speak Only

My father passed down a pair of SDA 2A speakers to me many years ago and they have been absolutely fantastic until a couple months ago.
I am now experiencing major distortion and breakup in the right speaker after about 25 minutes of use. The left will continue to work fine but the right speaker is nothing but static and popping. Even when I stop the turntable that distortion continues until I turn off the amplifier.
I have tried swapping the speaker wires at the amplifier to insure that it is not an issue with the Marantz 2230 and I get the same result, only the right speaker is acting up.
Any thoughts? Or other things to troubleshoot?

That's a weird one......like........how does the speaker emit sound/noise when no signal input should be entering it? Anyway, putting that aside, I'd definitely do the resistance checks in the SDA Handbook as a starting point. If in doubt, just check everything that can be checked. Try swapping the cables at the speaker ends too, to rule out a cable problem.George / NJ
