A new speaker wire (similar to Polk's Cobra Cable)

I just received a very promising pair of speaker wires that is based upon the braided Litz wires used in the Polk Audio Cobra Cables and Monitor Audio cables in Europe. The original cable was made by a Japanese company whose name is no longer known. Each run of cable contains 72 individually insulated strands for positive and another 72 strands for negative. The strands are made from very high quality copper and extremely thin all covered in enamel. The positive and negative strands are braided in groups of 6 strands at 90 degrees to each other to help reject external electromagnetic fields and to reduce the amount of inductance. The length of my cables is 1 meter and the capacitance I measure at 1.61nF. I have to add some ring terminals in order to attach them to my amplifiers and speakers.uj0qzzclk4z1.jpg

  • "1 meter....for speaker cables ?"

My amplifiers are very close to the speakers, I miss-measured on the right hand speaker by a few inches, but if I move things around I should be okay.

    Are these still considered "dangerous"?

Pricing? Or is it one of those things, that if you have to ask...........
See my profile for list of gear.

The problem, at the time, was that some solid state amplifiers of the '70's could begin oscillating if the speaker load was fairly high in capacitance. This is why most amplifiers and receivers have an inductor at their outputs. But vacuum tube and more modern stable solid state amplifiers shouldn't have a problem.

The pair were very reasonable, including termination the 1 meter pair was $140.00 and shipping was $30.00 from Malaysia. The eBay seller was extremely helpful and efficient.
