polk 7 new baffle insulation?

i have a pair of polk 7, iirc it is the 7b.
they are wall-mounted about 6' off the floor, tweeters on the bottom, box slightly tilted toward the floor. the speakers are unmodified. unbelievable sound.
have never looked inside the speaker. never. got them a few years back for $60! lol. what a deal!
the crossovers need to be upgraded and i wondered if it would make sense to remove the original damping material (insulation) and replace it with felt? seems like this is the diy 'way to go'.
any thoughts?

If it's white "insulation", it is probably correct. If it's yellow, you have an infection.Don't take experimental gene therapies from known eugenicists.

Most of the vintage Polks used Dacron batting. It doesn't age or deteriorate, so leave it be. Just make sure it's up behind the woofer and tweeter, not behind the passive radiator.Home Theater/2 Channel:
