You get some bags out of your Shed , Slip on the ramp to get out of the shed and twist your knee.
I was getting some things out of my shed and on the 2nd trip I slipped on the ramp to get in out of my shed. Somehow my left knee twisted during the slip, before I hit the ground I was in stupid crazy pain. It was raining just hours before I did this and everything was still very wet. I probably shouldn't have done it and waited for things to dry up but I put on my trusty Wolverine boots thinking they would be fine. I was wrong.
After I hit the ground I laid on the ramp and half way into the grass in stupid pain. My wife came out as she heard me screaming out in pain. I crawled into the shed to get off the cold wet ramp and grass. She asked me what happened and if I was ok. I told her I twisted my knee and slipped on the ramp. I stayed in the shed for over 5 minutes before I attempted to get back inside the house. It took awhile to catch by breath.
I didn't get right to the hospital as with all this COVID crap I decided to ICE it and see how it goes. I can't walk on it or put any weight but it didn't pop out of socket. It hurts like hell but it's starting to calm down some.
I have been rubbing CMD Cream on it and icing it every few hours for about 20 minutes. I have a nice Joint ice sleeve that you put a liquid cold pack in that forms to your knee or elbow. I've been sleeping in my recliner and took the week off from work. This happened Monday night and yesterday I decided that I should get it looked at. It's getting a little better but I can't walk on it and after researching it , I should go get it checked out.

I understand how you feel. Sorry about your bad luck with the slip and fall. Hope it heals well and fast. I've tweaked my back for a week and a half putting on my pants....
-
Ouch. Hope you recover. Best to have it looked at. Feel your pain. I slipped 2 winters ago on ice & lucky enough i had my phone on me. I was alone. I laid there for 5 mins ready to call 911. Crawled back inside. Was down for a week. That ground is quite hard. Take care of yourself..

Yea, I'm still waiting for those "golden years."
All I get is those "more pain years" as I get older. If it’s swollen Dan then something is torn. When I tore my ACL play basketball a couple years ago I also didn’t hear a pop, but it was swollen and I couldn’t walk on it for a week or so. Get it looked at! I'm sure you'll be okay in the long run.

As my father would always say, "do you want me to punch you in the (reference any body part here) so that you can forget about the pain in your knee?"Where’s the KABOOM?!?! There’s supposed to be an Earth shattering KABOOM!!!

Our dads must have grew up together.
With one exception he never asked just suddenly there was a new pain and he'd say "I never heard a thank you" or "you can thank me later' when I'd ask WTF was that for.... -

I say that to my son now. -

Immediate swelling means something tore or broke. Meniscus would swell 12h later. What did ortho say?Magico M2, JL113v2x2, EMM, ARC Ref 10 Line, ARC Ref 10 Phono, VPIx2, Lyra Etna, Airtight Opus1, Boulder, AQ Wel&Wild, SRA Scuttle Rack, BlueSound+LPS, Thorens 124DD+124SPU, Sennheiser, Metaxas R2R

...you get out of bed in the morning and you're reminded of the old Rice Krispies commercial, "snap, crackle, pop". Seriously though, hope you heal up!Remember, when you're running from something, you're running to something...-me

It's been 5 days now and it really sucks. The little things in life like the ability to walk are taken for granted , you don't really every think about it until it's taken away from you. Amazing how hard life becomes when you can't walk or carry things etc. I'm looking forward to getting this fixed.
My chin is up , but it's starting to get to me.

Waiting on results from the MRI. Meniscus is the likely torn , the rest of my knee joint is strong she said. She did a series of tests which kinda sucked as when she did certain ones it hurt. She did this finger pressure thing to find all the pain points. When she got to the Meniscus, that where all the pain is.Dan

I'm sorry for you.
I don't know much about knee injuries except for hearing them being a PITA after surgery. I saw a special about a running back that was told he'd never play again. He proved them wrong.
Sorry to hear your lifestyle has been changed majorly for quite a while with that one slip.
I fell 4' from a step ladder and cracked my heal bone into 3 pieces. The swelling kept getting more and more painful with-in an hour so I went to a quick-doc place and found out the bad news. Had surgery and on the couch for 3 months.
My wife helped me down onto our toilet and picked me back up later.
I was a strong and fit guy too. But learning to put pressure on my foot after those 3 months on the couch was 5 years of daily struggles. Elevating my foot was a daily routine after work AND while I slept too. But our bodies DO overcome and adapt IF it can. Your knee will heal in time too.
Yes...not having the use of one leg for months made me feel BIG TIME "sympathy" for people who for their whole lives have to deal with a lot worse. One leg , two legs or none at all working is a mountain of a challenge to do normal things we take for granted all day, every day.
I guess we can all look up on the web what you have to endure for the coming weeks or months.
If 20/20 couldn't get any worse with what, 2 1/2 weeks to go when you slipped!
I'll be thinking about you most every day for quite some time to come now.
Good luck with the surgery to come.
TonyMost people just listen to music and watch movies. I EXPERIENCE them. -
Thanks Tony. Sorry you had to go through that. Sucks when you're a man or anyone for that matter who is use to moving, getting things done and not letting things get in the way. This gets in the way and there is nothing I can do about it other then wait till Monday when my Doctor is in, gets the results and learn what the next step is no pun intended LOL.
Anyway what really sucks is this is my weekend to go out ,Christmas shop for the family as I enjoy taking a day or 2 to get all that done. I've been doing it forever and this is the first year I'm not able to go. My Son is going to go out for me to pick up a few things for my Wife and Daughter, I'm gonna have him pick up his own gifts this year. Christmas is a special time in our family and it hurts me more that I can't do what I usually do this year than my knee does.
At least I get to sit in the car , send him picks and where to pick things up. He is going to be my legs this year which is great.
Happy Holidays everyone, hope everyones ending of 2020 is better then how it began.
This year has been awful from beginning to end.

The worst part of a torn meniscus is the therapy after surgery.Political Correctness'.........defined

So now I have to wait until next Thursday Dec 31st to check a follow up to see what the next steps are in fixing my knee. I find this to be a the worse service I have ever seen. They did absolutely nothing for me and I have been doing my best to do what they instruct me to do.Dan

I had a torn meniscus in 97 in my right knee. Also they had to lift both of my knee caps and smooth under both knees as I was in a accident with a truck where it ran over my left foot and twisted both knees when I feel down. The truck didn't run over my whole foot, just the edge of it and thank God it was tuning right so the weight was shifted to the other side.
Recovery wasn't that bad and I was walking around in just a few days after the operation and within a week had no issues getting around. My knee was sore for a 3-4 months, but it was more of a dull pain.
