Sub woofer makes heartbeat sound with no input

Hi, my powered subwoofer speaker makes a continuous low volume almost heart beat like sound even when there is no input. Disconnecting it from the power stops it temporarily then it comes back. Would like to resolve it somehow. Thanks

    The plate amp has failed. As you didn't list the make and model there's no way to help you further.
