Magnifi Max Chromecast

Hi,
I've had my Polk soundbar only a short time and the Chromecast initially worked just fine.
I could even see and 'cast' to it while the power was off - and it'd turn it on and away we go. Sweet!
Fast-forward to now, and I can't see the soundbar as a cast option anymore. I can see it in Google Home, but no longer in Spotify.
I've also changed phones since so it's unrelated to an Android software issue.
Anyone else had a similar issue before, and if so, how did you go about resolving it (if at all)?
Thanks in advance!

I'll try and get some suggestions for you.

Their response:
If your Magnifi Mini is already connected to the internet and still will not play sound try resetting to factory default settings.
· Resetting to factory default settings
o Hold the reset button on the back of the Magnifi Mini for at least 15 seconds. You will hear a two tone sound to confirm reset, do not release the reset button until you hear the confirmation tone.
o After resetting, all settings are erased and you will need to setup the unit again, including connecting to your WiFi.

I have the Magnifi Max, not the Mini - but does it carry the same suggestion?
I'll give it a go after work anyway. 👍 -
I'll check...

The response:
"Press and hold “Wi Fi Reset” on back for 15 seconds until you hear a sound." -
Okay, I did the reset, removed the device from Google Home... I was then prompted to "Set up Chromecast built in speaker".
So I proceeded as I did with my original setup after unboxing from new... It can find the speaker/Chromecast and asked if I'd like to set up the device (see image).
I select Yes and it shows "Connecting to...", and my phone WiFi shows as connected to the sound bar, however has an X in the WiFi icon and setup does nothing at all... The little Google Home animation continues forever until I give up and interrupt it.
Any further ideas? -
"He may need to reset both the bar and router"
-
Router reboot has already been attempted.
-
I got home and my phone saw the Magnifi Max WiFi and asked if I wanted to connect to it.
I decided to try the setup via Google Home again with the same results.

Hi!
I'm experiencing the exact same situation as Ezkaton. I have been using my soundbar for only a month now (is brand new), have set up WiFi correctly through Google Home app and after an electrical shutdown at my home, I cannot cast to my soundbar from Spotify (for example) anymore.
I have tried:
- Turning on/off the soundbar
- Unplug for electrical power outlet and then reconnect
- WiFi reset
- Reboot router and reset
- Paring through Google Home app from another Android smartphone and even iPad
Nothing seemed to work. The only way I can get it working is hardwiring with an Ethernet cable to my router.
System firmware version: 50
Cast firmware version: 1.36.145853
I noticed the WiFi LED is off and not blinking as user's manual describe when not connected to a personal WiFi network.
Thanks in advance! -

Same story here: New Polk Magnifi Mini (bought 17th. November 2020) working well as a soundbar connected to Samsung Smart TV via HDMI. I set it up for Chromecasting: Google Home App and my home wifi network all 'worked' and I was able to use Spotify and listen to music. Now, no wifi light showing. Google Home won't connect. Google Home support have worked with me and I've re-set the router, the soundbar, the phone, re-installed the app and tried many times to get chromecast back, but nothing seems to work. Anybody got any ideas?

Hi! I'm experiencing the same issue with my Magnifi Mini. Has anybody fixed it?
-
it can be defective, but try this first:
1. Temporarily unplug Wi-Fi router/modem to eliminate wireless interference issue.
2. Press and Hold the Wi-Fi reset button on the back of the bar for 16 seconds until you hear two chimes to reset.
3. Press and Hold the Volume + and Volume – buttons on the bar at the same time until you see blinking orange light then, release the buttons.
4. Unplug the power cord to the back of the soundbar.
if not resolving call Polk support
My unit was defective and they changed.

Check if your home router has settings for multicast routing and IGMP ping support, my asus router has it in the IPTV settings. After enabling the LAN settings for IPTV, my polk magnifi max started working flawlessly with Chromecast!

I purchased my magnifi 2 a week ago and was unable to get wifi to connect and got this message:. After spending 2 hours on the phone yesterday with 'support' I decided to exchange it. Today I hooked up the new one and have exactly the same issue and message displayed. 'Support' who are just a 3rd party company not Polk told me I have a problem with Google Home and should contact them. Trouble is I purchased a Polk product, not a Google product.

I'll ask my friend, at Polk, to contact you via email.
