So far, SKW, Audioquest, and Morrow Audio are three that have been thrown my way. I have a half off code for Morrow, better than the 40% offered on the website.
What do the peoples here think, keeping in mind that high-end cables are out of range for me.

I bought some demo furutech alpha speaker cables from Douglas Connection, they are top notch good price also. I suggest you email him because he doesn't have everything listed like demo or used stuff. -

The DIY builds are fun, but looking back, my first set was a hack job, even though I was kinda proud of them at the time. I don't regret it, and have materials to build more, but I ain't no @ALL212 - the dude solders in his sleep - so I've been perpetually sitting around in front of the kit with the soldering iron burning going on about 4yrs now, all tentative-like, soldering nothing.
It can be a bit of an ordeal getting all the bits together and the workspace set up if you go all out with Techflex and heatshrink, and you'll want Cardas Quad and a good soldering station. But take this with a grain, because there are many here who can bust out some good RCAs without dedicating a day to it. For me, there's a reason Doug's personally built cables cost more than his DIY kits

I’m pretty comfortable trying it myself, I’ve mentioned before that I built cop cars for 7 years, but maybe you’re right. I don’t have a proper work station in my new place, and my good soldering iron is who-knows-where.

I'm definitely a better mechanic than I am a solderer, but you might be talking a different kind of builder.
You just need a place to set up for a day, really. It's easier if you're just doing basic cables without the dressup.

I agree. Doug’s cables are great. I’m running all Alphas (Furutech) throughout my system. Balanced, RCA, TT and bi-wire speakers. But I had him build them.
I have tried others but go back to Doug’s.

Haha! As far as models for those brands, I’d have to go back and look. My head is kind of swimming right now with all the information. Takes me a bit to go through it. I’m pretty thorough before I make purchases. No much of a impulsive buyer.

Well, I’m leaning toward Audioquest, just the entry stuff. One last question (for now), are there any long-lasting I’ll effects of an RCA being too short?
My layout will require some less than 3’ lengths. -

What audioquest and how long? I have a few sets I'm no longer using. Evergreen and Alpha cables -
@pitdogg2 Evergreen is the one @teekay0007 suggested. The guy who sold me the Adcom also suggested them. 3’, or less, preferably. I’ll get two that are a half a meter.
I thought I read RCA’s that are too short aren’t good. -
In the length department you may be confusing digital for analog.
I have several pairs if interested I'll take some pictures. -

Previous series before evergreen name.
Both cables are same wire construction different jacket and RCA. I couldn't tell a difference between the two. -
Another to consider if you buy new is the Audio Advisor Black Mamba series. These are basically Audioquest's King Cobra series sold through Audio Advisor only. Very nice and a huge step up from Evergreen.
Evergreen is long grain copper
Black Mamba is perfect surface+ copper.
