350.00 plus actual shipping via PP friend option for Polkies. The "stuff" on the top of the unit is a thin adhesive layer perhaps from a label (?). I never noticed it until taking this pic. To date, this is the best sounding DAC I have owned. PM me questions....this was purchased here about 2 years ago.

That's a great deal on a DAC that could be the hub of your 2-channel rig. This pup can be run as a preamp as well.Source: Bluesound Node 2i - Preamp/DAC: Benchmark DAC2 DX - Amp: Parasound Halo A21 - Speakers: MartinLogan Motion 60XTi - Shop Rig: Yamaha A-S501 Integrated - Shop Spkrs: Elac Debut 2.0 B5.2

Does your DAC1 have a USB input ?
-
I believe only the HDR model has the USB input, Kev's looks like it is the regular DAC1 without USB.
-
How on Gods green earth is this still here????See my profile for list of gear.

IKR?? This price is for Polkies since I received the deal from a Polky. Others can PM me for the non Polky price if they are interested....

Could you post photo of the back? Might help.
PS: Sorry, nevermind. Apparently I need the HDR model to have it work with my Squeezebox Touch.Post edited by Gardenstater onGeorge / NJ

Why? With the EAO the SBT can do the same hi Rez over coax as USB...Living Room 2.2: Usher BE-718 "tiny dancers"; Dual DIY Dayton audio RSS210HF-4 Subs with Dayton SPA-250 amps; Arcam SA30; Musical Fidelity A308; Sony UBP-x1000es

Thanks. I was under the misconception that the applet worked with USB output only. I have a great USB cable and would prefer to compare my iFi nano idsd to the Benchmark with all things equal. Heck, I don't really think I can afford any more upgrades to my system at this time which is bottom line I guess. Apparently the Benchmark DAC1 USB model works according to this (they don't mention the non USB) without a hub. In fact I don't see very many that DON'T work, which is confusing given the warnings regarding same from the applet developer!

Is this DAC fully 192kHz capable or does it upsample to that from a max. of 96kHz?George / NJ

I was very happy with it in that role, but no remote for this specific model. I use my newer DAC2 DX as my preamp as well.Source: Bluesound Node 2i - Preamp/DAC: Benchmark DAC2 DX - Amp: Parasound Halo A21 - Speakers: MartinLogan Motion 60XTi - Shop Rig: Yamaha A-S501 Integrated - Shop Spkrs: Elac Debut 2.0 B5.2 -
Much better pics including the back panel. Lets get er done Polkies...no remote and it does not appears that rack mount is removable from the front panel.

Hey Kev. What's the mfg date of the unit? Is it fully 192kHz compatible on those digital inputs? What level of DSD can it do? Is this DAC Asnychronous or is it Adaptive? Did it not come with a remote for this model? What would be your guess for sound quality of this vs an iFi nano IDSD dac? Sorry for all the questions. Inquiring minds want to knowGeorge / NJ

Give me literally 15 min and Ill give you what info I can...discern if thats the correct word.🙂

Here are some specs from their website. There is no mfg. date on the outside of the unit. I currently use it via both COAX and optical inputs for Tidal Masters/general internet radio and my Marantz CDP. I will say its the best sounding DAC I have owned to date...by a pretty wide margin over the Schiit Bifrost, Cambridge DAC, and there is a third in there I cannot recall. I don't believe I directly answered all your Q's but hopefully all that helps. Also, it doesn't appear this model used a remote control.

AFAIK asynchronous only refers to a USB DAC, which the dac1 is not.Living Room 2.2: Usher BE-718 "tiny dancers"; Dual DIY Dayton audio RSS210HF-4 Subs with Dayton SPA-250 amps; Arcam SA30; Musical Fidelity A308; Sony UBP-x1000es

Correct sir....no USB input in the back. FWIW I can have this packed and shipped in a bomb proof box within 1 day, or earlier.
