Just heard that Tom Seaver passed away at 75. As a lifelong Mets fan and someone who remembers seeing him pitch for the Mets, this is tough to comprehend. RIP #41, a great pitcher and true Mets legend.

    No Mets world series without him for sure. His autograph was my first, brought home by my dad on a business trip to NYC in 1970. Lots of Mets on hand during his convention.

    RIP. First MLB baseball game I can ever remember watching on TV Tom pitched for the Mets versus Cubs. I was very happy when he was traded to the Reds.

    I just saw this news today. His pitching ability is unquestionable, but he seemed to be a really good guy as well.

    Tom was part of a group of great pitchers from the 60's and 70's that included names like Nolan Ryan, Juan Marichal, Jim Palmer, Catfish Hunter, Vida Blue, Steve Carlton, Ron Guidry, Bob Gibson, Don Sutton, Tommy John and others that I probably can't remember. This was truly to me the golden age of pitchers in baseball. I remember going to a game at Yankee (1976??) stadium to was Nolan Ryan pitch vs. Catfish Hunter.

    I remember a season by Bob Gibson that was so dominant that the next year they lowered the mound to help hitters...

    Tom was a standout among these greats as he possessed incredible "stuff" a hard heavy fastball and a slider as good as any I have ever seen that he used as an out pitch against righty's that would have them shaking their heads on the way back to the dugout.

    He sure was Terrific.
