Bluesound node2 app problems

Does anyone have a lag problem with the bluesound app? My node2 has lag problems such as I have to go in and out of the app several times to get it to lose my music or even an album or artist I type in. It also starts playing a song I picked and the clock can sometimes be on the song I played before, or several songs. Any idea as to why.

I’m using my IPhone 7 to operate my Node 2,and yes it’s kind of wonky sometimes. It Certainly is frustrating having to keep opening the app to get it to work right.

Bluesound acts like there isn't a problem, because it seems to be hit and mis for one user to another.

When I use the app through my IPad,every time I go back to the app,it starts from the main page. That is totally annoying. Sometimes I’ll get an album ready to play,I’ll go back to the app,(on my IPad)and have to start all over again. Other than the lag, operation on my IPhone is much better than on my iPad.

As far as lagging goes, try unplugging the node 2,and let it reboot.

I've done that several times, I've even uninstalled the app and reinstalled it on several occasions. Nothing seems to work.

What are you using to navigate the app?

I’m out of ideas. I have a Node1and a Node 2. The 1 just froze up on me 2 days ago. And much to my surprise,my wife told me to just order a new Node2i. It should be here by Friday. It will be interesting to see if the new model has any interface issues. I’ll post back when I get it up and running.

My new Node2i showed up about an hr ago. Set up,as always with the nodes was pretty easy. Which, for me,says a lot. I hate hi tech gizmos!

What I can see so far,the annoying lagging, and not being able to go back to where I was , once I left the BluOS page,is no longer happening. They must have changed something to fix these issues.

All in all, even with the wonkyness of the past nodes, these really are great devices. Hopefully Bluesound can find a way to correct those issues, and fix them with a software update.

Great review of the Node 2i in The Absolute Sound current issue. Makes me think that this might be the way to dip my toes into streaming instead of jumping in with Lumin or Auralic.

I wonder what is different about the node2i from the node2 to have the lag issue fixed. None of the updates so far has fixed the lag in my node2.

It still lags on my node2. For some reason I’m having better luck with 2i.

I think it’s a really good value. I’m using outboard DACs on both the Node2,and 2i,however the internal DAC on both are pretty good as is. That should be good news because you don’t have to go shelling out more cash out of the gate. I ran a node1 for a few years just running analog out,and I was very pleased with the sound.

OK,I backtracked on my research. Two of the differences between 2,and 2i are the 2i has dual band WiFi,and they incorporated the Apple ecosystem. This would explain (I think) why the operating system on the 2i works better for me.(I’m using an IPhone and an iPad to run the bluos app) The other difference being the 2i has a better internal DAC.

That dual WiFi makes sense, I think the WiFi might be the problem with the node2, my music keeps playing but when I pick another song the screen on the pp stays on the last song for quite a while. I also have to go in and out of the app when I first start listening just to get it to bring up my music or even tidal sometimes but not always.

I had the same issue with my node1. Sometimes it would take 30 seconds or more to engage a song or album change.

I think you are absolutely correct about the dual band WiFi. On the node1or 2,when checking wifi strength would be “fair”. I just checked the 2i,and it shows “excellent “. That makes a lot of sense.

I just got a node2i to replace my original Node... Does anyone's randomizer not work properly? When I had my original Node hooked up, I could go to my library, click on songs, pick a song from the alphabetical order list and then hit the random button and it would randomize all the songs in my library. since switching the Node 2i. The randomize button picks a much small subset of songs (instead of all songs) near the song I chose to start withj. its really annoying b/c I want my entire library to randomize.

I can't speak for that unit due to total lack of experience but I'm just going to throw out an idea that perhaps a restore to factory defaults or something and start fresh? I could be totally off base I just know that with my first Logitech Squeezebox Touch it was experiencing buffering on playback of hi rez songs on Qobuz especially with the wireless vs ethernet, but when I did the restore it seems to have cured the problem.
