DIY Interconnects

Since the COVID-19 hit, many of us have had some time to spend on some project that we had been putting off. I had some raw Furez cable and RCA's that I've been meaning to make into interconnects for my pre-amp to amp to replace my "cough cough" Monster Cables. There are probably terms to describe the sonic differences. To me it just sounds right and more natural. I had the same experience with my Pioneer PL-530 cable upgrade that I plan to post later.

    Looks fun.
On a side note nothing wrong with Monstercable,

How long did you make them? I actually need to make a 15ft long IC cable to go from my USB DAC on my Desktop comp through a protector strip on the wood floor to my Crown D150 amp. I was planning to try to make my own with some UPOCC wire I purchased and doing a double spiral with 2 conductors per side criss crossed around some teflon tubing and with ETI Bullet RCA's. Haven't gotten around to doing it yet, and now my subwoofer power supply board is blown so that takes precedence. :(

That are 7 feet. I want to relocate my main amp to the basement where it is cooler and I can shorten my speaker cables that are presently 25 feet.

John Curl gave me instructions on biasing my HCA-1000A higher based on temperature. Presently I’ve gone conservative in case someone lays a magazine or something on to the amp. In the basement no one will mess with it and I have plenty of cool air.

^This isn't what you used is it? 16AWG would be pretty heavy for interconnects, even for 7 ft.! It would be much easier to do though than what I am planning or was planning.

Yes, that is what I used. Someone here gifted it to me several years ago so I thought I'd put it to good use.

Thanks. My plan was to try to make some like this. I haven't proceeded beyond purchasing about 70ft of Neotech UPOCC 24.5AWG and the Eichmann Bullet plugs. Was planning to use 2 conductors per side, giving 21.5AWG per side, 15ft long, wrapped around the teflon tubing with teflon tape as insulation between the sides, and with a drain wire inside the tubing connected to (-) at one end only. Potentially very fragile compared to what you used but it would be within a protector strip on the floor.
