Damn.~ In search of accurate reproduction of music. Real sound is my reference and while perfection may not be attainable? If I chase it, I might just catch excellence. ~

Yeah, I wouldn't go booking hotels JUST yet.....It will be a weekend and it will be in a pretty narrow window and the first weekend in November is pretty optimal.
Stay tuned. Polkfest is going to be a thing again, don't worry.

So, why do I want to revive Polk Fest??
It's a legit question that I got. So, I'll hit it head on. After PF in 2013, I was pretty disillusioned. We had a great time but it wasn't as well attended and the support from Polk was different. They supported it with goodies eventually but it was clear they weren't as on board as in the past and some folks were grumbling about the swag (because I really didn't think we would have any)...and, to be honest, after 4 Polkfests, it hurt my feelings a bit. Again, not the people that attended at all, we had a great time.
I mean, I was a Polk Audio true believer. I love audio but I really dug what Polk was about. It was, literally, the speaker company with heart (remember the old logo?)......and that seemed to die. These things happen companies get sold, people move on blah blah blah.
Thing is, PF was never about Polk Audio the company (and it sure as hell isn't about me).....it's always been about the community. Some events conspired and as I get older, I miss all of that camaraderie. F1, Hoosier21, Russman, Doro, Tom, RT1, DisneyJoe, Shack (even Tour2Ma and Mantis LOL) and a host of you other dweebs.....all are family to me and part of that is the PF phenomenon. It's a grassroots, family thing. So, anyway, I'd been missing all of that for awhile, I got back on the forum, picked up a pair of CRS's, started listening more to the rig (man, I've gone months without listening to the stereo)......and then the watershed event was the 2.3tl's. Not so much the speakers themselves but when I went down there to pick them up......the owner had passed away and his son was selling them. Anyway, he told me the night before, he hooked them up to make sure they worked and it was really emotional for him. He didn't know or care dick about SDA...but they were his Dad's and his Dad loved them. It was pretty much then that I decided I wanted to get Carolina PF V off the ground.
So, that's the back story. I also remembered this video from PF 2012...just before Al punched out. He talks about PF and Polk and that community. The best part is F1. NOT easily impressed......and you have to go to Polkfest to appreciate Polkfest.
So, we shall Polkfest ON!

Wow. People NEVER look like what you think they would. Dang Jesse. I look more like what I thought you looked like...thank God.
-
great video I knew a few in that one....

...
I try hard though and that’s all that matters.
That's my approach to construction, too! (but I am not a pro, just a dangerous amateur).

The woman is slightly interested... There is potential!!!

This is very very interesting! I would love to make it over to Ft. Sumter.
-
Funny thing about Ft Sumter...and it is cool to go, is how SMALL it is. I mean TINY.I plan for the future. - F1Nut

Agreed, It has been a while (read decades) since I have been there but I vaguely remember something to the effect of being able to throw a football a couple of times and the tour is over.
Lots and lots of history in this city. Might want to make a vacation out of it and see it before it gets erased.

I move to the east coast in a few weeks. This sounds like a great way to spend a long weekend. If you all are allowing new folks in the group I will start to make some plans. The world is somewhat on fire at the moment so a lot can happen between now and then so no telling if I will be able to make it iin the end, but I tend to take my hobbies seriously so this sort of road trip is right up my alley.SDA SRS 2.3tl, SDA 1C, SDA 2B (TL mod), Reserve 200

As long as I get to snuggle up with TLW, then i'd definitely love to come. I was told by my company recently that I will have to plan on taking off enough vacation time the rest of the year to not exceed allowed billable hours. Essentially, I'll be "forced" to take about 3 weeks off by year end. Twist my arm huh!
This go round, looks like a quick Southwest hop into Charleston for me, then a cushy plush hotel near Rancho De No Concerno. None of that long distance driving for me, I'm a big sissy these days (always was one).
Personal goals for me...snuggle up with TLW. Exchange reach arounds with BDT. Get updated haircare tips from F1Nut.No excuses! -

This is on my radar. Going to make a plan to attend.
H9"Appreciation of audio is a completely subjective human experience. Measurements can provide a measure of insight, but are no substitute for human judgment. Why are we looking to reduce a subjective experience to objective criteria anyway? The subtleties of music and audio reproduction are for those who appreciate it.
