Why is the sound distorted?

The system is hooked up to a Panasonic plasma tv using the optical cable as there was no free hdmi port. It worked very well for the first couple of months. Now there is significant distortion that appears to be coming from the sound bar. Not noticable from the subwoofer. For a while the soundbar would settle down after playing for about 5 minutes but now that seems to take longer and longer. I have triied it through both the tv and bluetooth with similar result. The soundbar has been on for about 2 hrs. and I am playing a concert from my phone cast to the tv and it currently sound fine. Is it just going get worse or is there some reset that could be done to the soundbar?

Check the connection of the toslink at the TV. Those connections have been known to break. Also, try another toslink cable.

Maybe lower models have less, but there's 6 HDMI ports on my Panny plasma.....six!Political Correctness'.........defined

Dang, six is a lot! I heard those Panny plasmas were really nice. I got the last high end plasma model that Sammy made and it only has four. Occasionally I could actually use those other two!

Haha. Roku, PC, Blu-Ray and Xbox. You could say some of that is redundant. If I had cable I’d need another, and every once in a while someone wants to hook up a laptop without unplugging something else.
