At exact 12'0 clock the guy from Fed Ex came to my door to deliver my new 5-ch ADCOM GFA-7605 then I hooked all new Monster THX Ultra Audio Interconnects to it which I purchased 2 days ago from Best Buy I paid 50% off 'cause I work there. I'm so glad now that I have separate AMPs, first I bought NAD C272 for especially for 2-ch music and now Adcom GFA-7605 for HT. I use both when I watch movies. I use only NAD for 2ch for music.

Yamaha RX-V1400 is a state-of-the-art pre/pro. If you have this receiver you don't have to get a pre/pro. This receiver itself is one of the best pre/pro. It does everything for you. All current sound formats with Yamaha proprietry DSPs, DPLIIx. YPAO Yamaha Parameteric Acoustic Calibration. Dual 32bit DSPs.
Component switching and upconversion. High quality 24/192 AKM DACs are used. I was told by people the sound quality of this receiver matches with the $2000-3000 range.

AKM 4382 DACs for FL & FR channels
AKM 4358 DACs for the rest of the channels.

Now Anthem AVM20 pre/pro uses AKM 4382 DACs for all channels where Yamaha 1400 uses only for 2-channel. Check the price on Anthem AVM20 pre/pro and check for Yamaha 1400 according to www.alexhardware.com
look at the IC database sheet on the website it tells you what DACs, DSP and other chips are used in Receivers and Pre/Pros.

DIRECT STEREO mode in my Yamaha 1400 is outstanding similar to PURE DIRECT mode in other receivers. When I use this mode with my NAD C272 Oh! what a sweet sound comes from my RT800i and solid midrange and accurate tight bass. No need for subwoofer in music! If you like neutral to natural or in other words accurate sound Yamaha 1400 is the receiver for you. Yamaha 1400 is a steal for what it sells! :D

Now I have a solid Home Theater System! the only thing lacks in my system is the big-screen TV and then I'm done! it

There are so many fuses in Adcom amps for protection reasons...its not all THAT hard to do...

Plug something up while its on...

    Power surge (rare)

    Etc, easy fix...

I own some Adcom gear (currently 2 gfa-545), use to own 5 2 channel amps, but I have unloaded alot of them for various reasons. They are solid amps...

Let us know how it goes!
    - Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit.

I'll do the real test tomorrow with ROTK on my Adcom and NAD.

Well today, I watched Gladiator and during dialogue scenes I turned up the volume around -10 db and what I noticed was the sound is bigger and fuller and same time smoother. The dialogues coming out from my Polk CS400i center channel were perfect. Both male and female voices were accurate. No sign of harshness and strain here. The battle scenes in the beginning and in colosseum were loud and clear.

Adcom GFA-7605 is a solid amp! for sure.

a moron pulles a speaker cabble off one of my speakers and shorted it out i was ready to kill him. but the top fuse olny blew and not the botom. to replace the botom fuse you have to take the botom plate off and stand the amp on its front so the cards dangle from the back plate. that is how the servis guy told me to do it and it dont void the warentee. but ti takes over a hour to do all the screws.

It means that if someone take all the precautions and use the amp properly then fuse will never die. Well I use my equipment very carefully and I don't have to worry about.
