Broken optical cable receiving end (female)

I have always had trouble plugging in optical audio cables. I think that I figured it after 15 years. But, on two inputs, the little door has been pushed back and I haven't been able to pull it back down. It blocks the plug in. Ideas?

Also in 15 years, this is the 4th time I've had to sign up because I can't remember sign in info and my email address no longer exists. Damn

    Door Blocks the plug? Really???
    All mine have never blocked the cable from going in.
